Status: offline 		I know I'm usually on the more "left" end of discussions but I really think the whole "White Liberal Guilt" plays a prevalent role in a discussion like this.

There IS a double standard in reporting these sorts of crimes. I don't know the merits of those in the OP but news outlets (barring Fox News who enjoy race-baiting for hysteria's sake) are more reluctant to report "reverse-racism". It goes both ways though as you'll see national coverage for a little white girl who's gone missing but won't here a peep about the black ones.

There's no equity in news... but journalism is also a dying/dead art. Trying to pry facts and picture the truth anymore is a tiring exercise.

Affirmative action. The DOJ turning a blind eye toward discrmination against whites. Character assasination and the presumption that acts by police are racially motivated,as practiced by this administration.

The argument here is that white people are somehow victims of nonwhite oppression; this meme is being drummed up with slender wisps of anecdotes and rumor, all as a way of validating the resentment the some white people feel towards other ethnic groups.

This drum is pounded by Rush Limbaugh ("In Obama's America, black kids beat up white kids"), its repeated by white wing militias ("Mexican gangs are beheading people") and Fox News ("Moozlims are instituting Sharia law")

This is dangerous stuff; this is very similar to the campaign carried out by the Serbs in the Balkans, where they whipped up fear and hatred of the Croats based on the notion that the Serbs were being discriminated against, oppressed by Corats. Which led to the "ethnic cleansing" we saw in the Balkans war.

White people are not being victimised by nonwhites. Sorry, a few anecdotes ("I know a black guy who punched a white guy one time") isn't the same as Jim Crow. And it doesn't make you a victim.

My fellow white people- stop sniveling and man up.

It wasn't the black people who crashed the economy and stole your retirement account, it wasn't the Mexican maids who cut off your insurance benefits when you got sick, it wasn't the American Muslims who caused you to get laid off.

But the culprits on Wall Street and their accomplilces in Washington would love for you to vent your rage on the black people, the Mexicans, the Muslims, while they continue to rob you blind.

Bullshit. The argument here is exactly what I said it is, and it is a fact. There is discrmination against those perceived to have been oppressors against minorities in the past. You cannot possibly deny that, you can only argue that it is justified.

Absolutely.  Newspapers want to sell ad space, and need to have a certain amount of columns to do so. It takes less money to have stenographers simply copy down what is fed to them, than to have real journalists dig and uncover news themselves.

The pols issue carefully crafted press releases giving their spin, and the media reports it without even vetting.

Status: offline 		The town I live in is part of the county seat.   This means the jail- the court- and so forth is in this town.

For a long time- we had the reputation as being where the crime is.   However- when you crunch the numbers for per capita there is less here on a % basis.

I been going for walks of late.  What a pig sty.   Weeds and litter.   And clutter.

Some.   It is not worth my time.  If we had a deposit on them it would be.

I got a sweet deal on some junk silver this week.   ebay had 35% certain items.  

But yeah- people complain that many slam the town I live in- but based on what I see when I go for a walk- it is deserved.  Try it some time.  Walk or bike- you will see things you do not notice when driving thru.

I do like to size it up-- as I then know  what I can get a way with.   If 10 houses are worse- then I dont need to bust my ass on my house.  I try for the average.   Certainly to not be the worst house on the block.

Some things tho- invite trash of all sorts- broken windows can bring in trouble.

When a place has some traits- the no one cares- it can invite crime.  When a place is kept up- then it is less likely to be thought to be abandoned.

Rule, "conservative hysteria?"
Wouldn't the police be concerned if *any* certain group were targeted such as homosexuals or elderly women?
I know plenty of conservative and liberal men and I don't see any "hysteria" here in S. Carolina.
And perhaps you could explain to us this "liberal white male guilt" thang? What's that all about? Surely you don't feel "guilty" for the actions of others 150 years ago during slavery in this country, do you? Wouldn't (doing) something like that be considered a psychological disorder?
