I completely agree with Winsome. It really opens you up and I've also been doing it since I was around 14+!!!!

Side note: You're cute Winsome! :D

The vivid mental pictures we would draw... Thanks for the trip back...to a not so innocent time.

I had to indulge. I get progressively more ridiculous after midnight. Loud music and all. Does anyone rememeber that song "I wear my sunglasses at night"?

Also, I've realized there is no possible way to pronounce "Check 6" without sounding incredibly cool. (Try it.)

I've never heard that song but the title made me think of the Blues Brothers almost instantly. =P

So stealing 'Check 6' for a title for a short story ;)

(:P)

Great!

(I can't help but wonder what kind of story would have such a cryptic title.

I shouldn't know it either. It's an '80s pop song and still good for remixing, group karaoke, pretending to be cool. [8D] Maybe poise has heard it.

(I'm done derailing this thread, I promise. [:)])

I spent a lot of time in the RP chatrooms back in the day, and do miss them.
I loved how when two (or more) people who took it seriously and put their effort into it we could craft something wildly erotic and be transported into any sort of environment we wished.

I now only do things real time, but interestingly enough, see the parallels between cyber dungeons and real ones. In both, you need to create the mood, build the energy, and take it seriously enough to be brave enough to open up and expose your innermost fantasies and desires.

Finally, (i'll shut up now) I think the internet has just profilerated, there is just more idiots (another flameable sentiment :P)

Does anyone have any other ideas why it has somewhat, at least, appeared, to atrophy?
Alot of what used to be done "in public", as in chatrooms or open webcam communities, has moved to more private venues, both because technology improved and made things like private chatting better, and because of the swarming idiots that MakeClear mentioned.

Honestly, if someone were to make a horror movie about the fate of certain parts of the Web, like the old ICU Adult chatrooms, they'd probably call it "Attack of the Barely Literate".
