I wonder how well it is going to sit with those struggling financially to be told they are being forced to accept food stamps?


Gingrich brands Democrats 'party of food stamps


MINNEAPOLIS – Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is advising Republican candidates on November's ballots to frame the choice for voters between Democrats as "the party of food stamps" while selling the GOP as "the party of paychecks."

With a month to go before the election, Gingrich brought his branding effort to Minnesota on Wednesday. He raised money for Republican gubernatorial nominee Tom Emmer and the state GOP during a private fundraiser.

He told reporters later that Republicans can campaign as the party of opportunity.

"Most Americans would like to get a paycheck," Gingrich said. "Most Americans would not like to be forced to have food stamps handed out by liberal Democrats."

ORLY? Who signed NAFTA? How does it benefit an economy to overpay for domestic goods and services?

The Dems have no really good ideas, so they try bad ones and blame the GOP.

The GOP's panacea is to cut taxes and expect a strong economy to appear magically.  While ballooning the deficit.

JLF, "ceremoniously signing it" isn't *signing it into law* like Clinton did. They can "ceremoniously sign" anything they wanted to but that doesn't make it law. What, they sat around a table with a ouija board or something?

Who says its bad? And if you know the history of the legislation you know damn well it was pushed by the Dems. One of the few business related things they did right.

Status: offline 		The key word is "ceremonially" signed the bill. Bill Clinton actually signed it into law in Sept of 1993 and it was ratified by Congress that was controlled by democrats.

I think it will resonate with people who have been raised better than those who figure welfare is an entitlement way of life, and want the economy to get better so they can go back to work.

The center of both the Republican and the democrat parties supported NAFTA, while the fringe end of both parties opposed it.

INMHO NAFTA is not the problem with our economy, and things would be worse without it.
