He attacked your points.

And by the way, if you want to give full credit to the GOP for NAFTA, go right ahead. It was a necessary and appropriate agreement, so Im sure they we welcome the credit.

As I have said numerous times in the past, RML, there absolutely is a multi-generational subculture that views welfare as a way of life.

This was mentioned here recently, but without the link.

http://articles.latimes.com/2010/oct/04/local/la-me-welfare-20101004

"An anti-fraud unit in Orange County, which won praise from state officials last year for saving the state millions, has since had to slash its budget and lay off 15 investigators, said Paul Bartlett, commander of the county district attorney's Bureau of Investigation.

Those cuts saved $900,000 in operating expenses but allowed "an estimated $9.6 million in suspected fraud payments out the door," according to an Orange County Grand Jury report released in May."

So the dumb-ass Rethugs in Orange County spent a dollar in order to save ten cents. Fucking brilliant.

"The number of Americans receiving food stamps reached 39.68 million in February 2010, the highest number since the program began in 1962.[4] As of June 2009, the average monthly benefit was $133.12 per person.[5] As of late November 2009, one in eight Americans and one in four children[6] are using food stamps and the program rate is growing at 20,000 people a day.[7] Recipients must have at least near-poverty incomes to qualify for benefits.[8]"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Food_Stamp

"Poor people don't create jobs; the rich do." So when Bush rammed through his tax cuts for the rich in 2005, there should have been plenty of money available for investment in business expansion. So where are the jobs?

ONE IN FOUR children are using food stamps. That is obviously acceptable to the cons, since they allowed it to happen, and continue to resist any efforts to change that horrible statistic. How can Republicans sleep at night?

Sad.  The GOP is bankrupt of ideas, so they denigrate the Dems instead of trying to find solutions.

The Dems have no really good ideas, so they try bad ones and blame the GOP.

The GOP's panacea is to cut taxes and expect a strong economy to appear magically.  While ballooning the deficit.

The Dems' answer is to spend like crazy and expect a strong economy to appear magically.  While ballooning the deficit.

So what is your answer?

What is your idea?

No offense DS, but I get tired of people sitting on the fence who won't commit in either direction but offer no solutions of their own.

I'm speaking of the gridlock within the government, with both parties maneuvering for advantage and talking points.  It's getting very easy to distort a pol's vote, so that it takes courage to actually do something now.  The pols are more interested in keeping their jobs than in doing them.

But my solution would involve running the government more like private enterprise and emphasizing results rather than throwing money at problems.

No. Pretty stupid from the big picture point of view, but if you had a fucking clue, you'd know what money comes out of what pot in our system, and who sets the mandates for how that money gets spent, and what the priorities are.

Get yourself a nice cup of willowbark tea, and I will oversimplify it for you.

The county saved themselves a dime, by costing the state a buck. Of course, it's all taxpayer money, but the credit goes to our sainted and pure Democrats up in Sacramento. You probably don't want to know that. Whatever.

Do keep up the hate speech, though. The way you guys constantly betray Obama's promise is going to be be very helpful in 25 days.

Which subculture would that be?

The Wall Street subculture that demands handouts for their bad gambling losses?

The white haired Tea Partyers on Medicare and Social Security?

The huge agribusinesses that depend on government subsidies?

Halliburton and Blackwater that feed at the gravy train of government contracts, because they can't compete in the free market?

Of course, the constant demonization of Progressives ("far-left kool-aid drinkers"; "Marxist Christian-haters", and similar horseshit) doesn't happen in your Bizarro galaxy, right?

Here's a little bit of objective analysis from RacerJim:
"The list of American Communist, Marxist, Racist, Socialist and Union organizations which sponsored the One Nation rally on 10-2-10 and the mess they left on the Mall, specifically at the National WWII Memorial, is enough to ensure the Democrats will lose the House and perhaps the Senate as well."

No, no good/bad there, right? Not that YOU can see, anyway.

You're one of the most hypocritical posters here.

Except your solution offers a Utopian view of private enterprise.

Just as there are many politicians more interested in keeping rather than doing their job the same can be said of many corporate executives, including CEO's.

And you know how easy it would be to name examples of the latter.

No. That would be the subculture that views welfare as a way of life.

Comprehension problems on top of everything else, huh, Animu?

He does, however, seem to grasp the difference between assumptions and facts. He also understands scale pretty well.

I can understand someone getting caught up in a passionate debate, making a mistake, then letting it slide. But i am seeing so many one liners by people (boi included) that vest nothing in a debate except a sarcastic or caustic comment, then poofing away like a drive by dig. Its become so common with certain posters that when they actually do post something worthwhile to read, i often skip over it as being as unworthy of my attention as the poster's other comments.

a real shame, actually. some of them are quite intelligent and articulate.

Here I agree with willbeur.

And so do many Democrats.

And ironically, here's where a lot of Republican voters disagree.

No concept of reality. there are two reasons he got to sign not one as you fasley alledge.

One is that Bush lost (and it is good you recognize that Clinton did not win, Bush lost that election).

But the other is because Clinton wanted to use his power as president to sign it.

What does a post from racerjim have to do with anything I say. You do understand the difference between individual posters, right? Or does he somehow speak for everyone on the right? Strange logic you have going there, and somehow this makes me a hypocrite?
