Kinkroids, the writing is on the wall...'a scared nation' or a nation of fear, is a profit center. The 'war on terror' [sic], security and counter-terrorist profits, drug war profits, anti-missile system profits. Put society in fear and the people will allow power to coalesce as was done most prolifically by Bush & Co. and what Obama has not...undone. I wonder how many notice that ?

We are still in 'Afghanisnam'...the war that will never end.

Defense budget 2X that of the highest cold war budget. ($700 Billion) that's per year...babydolls.

Suffice to say, those that have sought to influence the American public to stay at war, stay at work building arms, staying at war against drugs for the fear, the partisanship, the spending and the profits...have been very, very successful.

The general ignorance or banter about which is what infects most forums. The participants want to always lay blame on the other side. So society at large remains blind to their ambitions.

I agree. And, as someone who is on his third passport, and who has been to 17 countries, 37 states, 3 provinces, and Puerto Rico, I think my perspective is a bit less provincial than your average Ami or Brit.

As far as I can tell, your average Brit travels to watch football, get shitfaced, and fight.

The majority of Brits are ignorant chavs, no doubt about it.

Personally, I find things like "I don't mind the criticism of U.S.policies but the constant bashing of everything American becomes tiresome." a little more annoying. I haven't particularly noticed constant bashing of everything American. There's a lot of criticism because there's a lot worth criticising. Although just saying that, is of course....America bashing. And we're pompous, arrogant....perhaps even jealous (of mumble-mumble-mumble), when say anything even vaguely negative.....even when it's on a politics forum and it's a thread not to do with america that's been dragged into, somehow...being about american parties, 'this is the problem with socialism/rightwingers, Bush/Obama is going to ruin this country', or more commonly...in defense of inaccurate statements about our own nations.


@Kinkbound: that's much more my view aye.

Dont you count what the Brits did in the war of 1812 as an invasion?

When one considers that America is one of the only un-invaded countries(the Aleutians don`t count)in the world,one has to wonder why there is so much paranoia and so many militia groups,conspiracy groups and politicians who pander to them.

It`s almost as if boredom produces the fear.

Look at how many European countries have been invaded,raped to death and butchered and how many times?

There`s nothing quite like the bed-wetters we have here in the home of the brave.

Well it made me think your a bit off if you think CM represents the thoughts of most americans any more than your posts represent the thoughts of everyone in the UK. Not sure if that was your goal, but if it was...congrats.


Admittedly I find this forum, perhaps even this website brings out the worst in me,to that I apologise, but I have to ask,why is that so.Is it because of those whom I mostly try to communicate are foreign to my way of thought ?

This.

In real life .......... not cyber chest thumping land.......we manage to be decent human beings, over all. Hell, I even manage to get along with a few far left, idealists and a few far right, mislead. And I'm not exactly the nicest person your ever going to meet.

Seriously, if someone leaves a website because their feelings get hurt or sensibilities get offended, good riddance.
