I was reading an article about this the other day....didn't he say at the end: "I'm just interested in the period"?....seems fair enough to me...I mean...I carry a knife a few times a day...when I'm cooking...but it doesn't mean I want to gut someone.... And the other poster is spot on...this sort of politics...is why most people are utterly disillusioned by the democratic process....and being honest....you'd probably form the conclusion that people aren't ready for the responsibilities that come complete with democracy...

I freely admit I don't understand Ren Faires and have no interest in researching that time period to the point that those folks do...but for me, that doesn't mean I would not go to them.

I guess being a larp'er myself gives me a different perspective than some of the left-leaning people. Reenactment is dressing up and playing pretend. When you dress up and play pretend with historical context in mind, somebody has to play the bad guy. Taking him to task for this is literally like saying, "This guy is bad because when we play pretend, he plays the bad guy." Now while an attack ad that said that would be hilarious, I don't think it should be done. He probably should have backed off from the hobby if he wanted a career in politics, especially being a teabagger, a group who's been struggling to cast off the 'racist' stereotype. Oh, and I'm a dedicated ren-faire nerd, so for you out there who are dissin' faire, Thou art punk-ass bitches! Would that I were in thy presence that I may bitch-slappeth thee with my giant, non-period turkeyleg!

I do alot of re-anactments, Ren Faires, Civil War (I play Union), I attend Scottish Games in Clan Kilt, I also now do Steam Punk. I get this type of negative response every time from those who do not participate. I will point out in one picture there is also a British Soldier. There are many reasons those of us participate, but one of the big reason is that we get to spend time with those who share our interest, nothing politcal.
