Status: offline 		girl is going to meet a Dom and His alpha slave, and was asked if she had any experience in wearing hoods. girl is not opposed to trying new things but she is nervous if that is even what this is....

her question is: other than speaking with Him about it, which girl has done...what can she do to mentally prepare herself for such an experience? is there anything she can do?

her next question is: have any of You kept Your slaves/subs in chains and if so, please can You share any information that will help her prepare for this?

girl appreciates any help she can get and is really looking forward to meeting the Dom and His Alpha slave, but wishes to be able to be better prepared if she makes any sense.

Status: offline 		Find out what kind of hood you will be wearing and get one.  Play with it by yourself and get the feel for what it is like when the lights go out.  There are many different kinds of hoods, ranging from those "gimp" style leather with zipper things to latex hoods to pillow cases.  play safe and make sure your ability to breathe is not compromised.

And most of all, have fun!

Status: offline 		I suggest you get a towel, soak it in warm to hot water and wrap it around your head.

I can't think of anything that will simulate chains other then actually using chains.

Status: offline 		While i enjoy hoods and adore chains, i don't think i could wear a full hood,or chains that really held me tightly, during my first visit with him -- at least that's how i read your OP.  Otherwise, perhaps he could have you hooded and/or chained for short periods of time, then a rest to discuss how it felt, etc.

Status: offline 		Go to the bathroom before you get into bondage.  Keep the key close by unless the chains are long enough to allow you to go somewhere to go to the bathroom after you are locked up.

Hoods are awesome bondage and sensory dep for me, but might be completely stupid and boring for you.

Status: offline 		your inquiry as to what you need to know or expect are very well grounded...each ones needs and expectations are different....but my question to you is just as important as yours to the boards.....why..if this is a first meeting for play ( you didn't say otherwise)..does he wish to take you to such a depth...why not allow you to experience some of his more basic skills....blindfold instead of the hood...then what does he do after that.....rope or silk or even string it doesn't much matter..it's the binding and securing of your person instead of chain...how does he handle this....it all leads me to your comfort level...if what he seeks is what you want as well...then it's all mute...but as for me...my opinion is to allow someone new to me...see and experience my skills...then as the bonds strengthens and there's more trust in what I can do...I expand into areas more at least for me and hopefully for that other....fun..exciting..and mind gripping...fear what I can do to you...not what I can't...<weg>

I agree with the people who say that you should really not allow yourself to be chained and hooded on a first meeting, when it comes to issues of your own personal safety you should be insisting and not suggesting. I realise this sounds very preachy though the only reason I am saying it is because of the scary stories I have heard firsthand from slaves who allowed themselves to be put in a similar position.

perhaps girl wasn't clear on this issue: while it is true we are meeting for the first time, she has spoken to Him about hoods, blindfolds and other things she wishes to experience or that are fears she wishes to rid herself of and He has agreed to help her. her question was meant to ask for advice in regards to hoods and chains because she is curious about these things.

girl is not going to be hooded or chained the first day she is there and has safe calls set up and will be emailing a friend every other day with a word that if not in the email He will know what to do.

she thanks each of You for Your advice and knows that her safety is paramount to anything else, but she does wish to learn new things and work on her fears.

again Thank You All for Your help.

Status: offline 		It sounds like you've got your safety protocol in order.  If you're cool with it, then you're fine.  Know to be safe. 

That aside, I can't speak about hoods, but chains are a lot of fun.  The way I've used them in the past, they were like rope.  Because of the difference in shape and structure though, I've never used them for bondage.  I can't predict the pinching between links and whether or not they could tighten as a scene goes on.  It seems like they could if they started to twist. 

However, they're great for chaining people to the bed, tying hands and knees together, or chaining them via a collar.  In general, chains are a lot heavier than rope or cuffs.  They're more physically cumbersome and restricting.  I've used two different kinds, some heavier ones and some lighter ones that were called 'decorative' at the hardware store.   The decorative ones were less weighty, but looked cooler and made a lot more noise (I find that sound is a big part of the appeal of chains).  The other ones were really a hassle to move around with.  Very restricting. They were like logging chains or somethig (belonged to a friend, so I don't know the actual size.) 

Basically, they're a lot of fun and there's some variation and effect that you don't get with rope.  Go to Home Depot and check out several types.  They're in our favorite section, next to the ropes and across from the hangers.

If you're nervous about wearing a hood tell him.  If he knows you're curious then he'll probably take you through it slowly and may even demonstrate on his other slave.

He sounds like he's being honest with you so be honset with him and you'll have fun.

Status: offline 		I hate hoods, even though I have been called one for most of my life and since working on the chain gang, I have lots and lots of experience with shackles and leg irons.

Status: offline 		I have a leather hood were it is tied on the person head with blind fold and gags. Remember hoods are not made to fit all. Also how do you do with blindfolds for hoods is completely different for it covers the whole head. If you have trust issue or are you afraid closed in space. I have had to wear a gas mask in the military and also experience Scuba diver. So I am use to having my head covered up because of it and it is a completely different mind set. Ask him how you will communicate with him if gagged or unable to speak if something goes wrong. I know some like to use a bell or sign language so they can teach them to communicate with them when their head is in the hood. Be open and honest with him with your experience with the hood and do you have breathing trouble like asthma.

Status: offline 		I would agree with the advice of how to get used to it (the hood), that you were given. I do question the use of one however, or any scening actually on the first meeting...something you have to be comfortable with I guess, but not something we would consider. As for chaining up a sub/slave...this concept has always escaped me except for play...I expect a sub/slave to be able to do things for me; service of some sort, meals, whatever, so having to unlock them every time I needed something always seemed like more of a hassle. Just me (shrugs), but hey, if you are into it, go for it.
