We seem to be drifting, here. Don't people want to talk about whether this election is better compared to 1994 or 1894?

I'm not following it all closely, so I make no claims of prescience, but it feels more like 1894, than 1994.

Not that I was alive in that century, but I was around and aware of the 1994 election.

The feelings and the activity are much higher now, in comparison to 1994.

I suspect that the number of gained seats will be somewhat less than the 100+ of the last century, but most likely more than the 40-50 seats that the more conservative prognosticators are claiming.

This time around the tea party members will be there to hold their feet to the fire.

I hope.

But we conservatives may have to do other things:

DeMint Threatens To Leave GOP If Agenda Is Not Limited Government

"I don't want to be in Washington another six years and watch the Republican party betray the trust of the American people again. I mean, we had the White House. We had a majority in the House and the Senate. We voted for more spending and more earmarks. Most of our senior members seem to be focused on taking home the bacon. I'm not going to be in a Republican party like that and that's not what the Republican Party is across America,"

Ok, this is on-topic: it shows how we got to this point.

But it is also pretty damn funny.

Republicans Kind of Suck … Which Is Why They Will Win Huge in November

During the second term of the Bush presidency people just got fed up with Republicans. They were idiots, they were no good at the whole fiscal conservatism thing (which is sort of the whole point of them), we had these wars that seemed to be going nowhere, and the economy was beginning to fail. They sucked, and people were sick and tired of them.

Thus people turned to the Democrats. And Obama.

AMERICANS: “So, the economy is pretty bad and there’s high employment. You think you can do something about that?”

DEMOCRATS AND OBAMA: “We can spend a trillion dollars we don’t have on pork and stuff.”

AMERICANS: “No … that’s not what we want. We’d really like you not to do that.”

DEMOCRATS: “You’re stupid. We’re doing it anyway.”

AMERICANS: “That’s not going to help us get jobs!”

DEMOCRATS: “Sure it will; millions of them … though they may be invisible. You’ll have to trust us they exist. And guess what else we’ll do: We’ll create a giant new government program to take over health care.”

AMERICANS: “That has nothing to do with jobs!”

DEMOCRATS: “We don’t care about that anymore. We really want a giant new health care program. We’re sure you’ll love it.”

AMERICANS: “Don’t pass that bill. You hear me? Absolutely do not pass that bill.”

DEMOCRATS: “Believe me; you’ll love it. It has … well, I don’t know what exactly is in the bill, but we’re sure it’s great.”

AMERICANS: “Listen to me: DO. NOT. PASS. THAT. BILL.”

DEMOCRATS: “You’re not the boss of me! We’re doing it anyway!”

AMERICANS: “Look what you did! Now the economy is way worse, we’re even deeper in debt, and we have a bunch of new laws we don’t want!”

DEMOCRATS: “You’re racist.”

AMERICANS: “Wha … How is that racist?”

DEMOCRATS: “Now you’re getting violent! Stop being violent and racist, you ignorant hillbillies! And remember to vote Democrat in November.”

So the Democrats sucked. But not just plain old, usual politician sucked, but epic levels of suck where it’s hard to find an analogue in human history that conveys the same level of suckitude. It was sheer incompetence plus arrogance — and those things do not complement each other well. We’re talking sucking that distorts time and space like a black hole.

...

So the Republicans kinda suck, and that’s why they’re going to win huge this November. Because in the land of epic, mega, ultra, apocalyptic levels of sucking, those who kinda suck are king. Or at least are going to win in a landslide.

No Firm, it's pretty damn stupid.

I would expect nothing more from Pajamas.

A fifth-grader could write something more clever.

But it's nice to see the teabagger mentality on display.

What's happening on November 3rd?

Oh, I forgot.

That's going to be the celebration of you "taking our country back".

I never have figured out who took it or where they were hiding it.

But "don't tread on me".

See, rml, this is exactly what many of us find abhorrent about your side of the political equation.

It's condescending, elitist and shows a complete inability of understanding.

I "get" why you hold many of your political opinions.  I understand that you believe that you have a rationale and complete world-view for the position you hold.  I'll argue against it, but at the end of the day, I understand that you do wish to have a better world, and wish no evil.

It would be nice if "your side" were able to extend the same courtesy to "our side".

Who are you trying to bullshit Firm?

Do I really need to go to the search engine and pull up examples of your condescending, elitist attitudes?

Because there are many and they are very easy to find.

I sure hope so. If this doesn't happen we will be down to one war again!

Then we could go back to all of the off the book borrowing from China to pay for it.  Then we could create another political party and pretend that we were all outraged when it was happening.

And the beauty of it is that that "party" would be inside a party that already exisits. We could act like it was something new when it really is the same old bullshit.

Perhaps.

Perhaps not.

I do know that I have actually attempted to explain myself and my beliefs in detail, and acknowledge that "the other side" aren't simply caricatures and cartoon characters, but real people who believe they have good reasons for their beliefs, even if I think they are mistaken.

I do not believe I've seen you acknowledge that the people who oppose your point of view are anything even near human.

It's why you do not understand why so many Dem seats are in trouble and why the TEA parties have arisen

Why do you think the election outlook appears so dreary for so many Democrats?

You make yourself a caricature with this whining victim mentality.

But it's not just you, it seems to be conservatives in general lately.

Maybe you guys need to lay off listening to Breitbart, Pajamas, and Fox for a while and stop spouting the talking points you hear there.

Then you might be taken a bit more credibly by what you term as "the other side".

nah you dont get to do that Firm.... talk about fighting a losing battle.. anything I say in short form is going to be twisted, I have no desire to get into a long protracted description of my opinion, beyond to say, the economy tanked, obama hasnt performed miracles, and  in a world of instant gratification and  selfishness, that is a death knell. Added to that No patience, lack of truth, smear and panic making paranoia  and selfishh greed amongst a myriad of issues.
but heh Im not supposed to have an opinion because Im not american..
but I will say I feel no happiness or joy, because the people who are really getting fucked are the people least able to do anything about it.

That's classic, Firm.

I'm not looking at any zombie apocalypse metaphors in my calculations for November. We have had two consecutive wave elections for the Dems, both based on a foundation of lies, and it's time for the pendelum to swing back. We have a President who can't open his mouth without expressing contempt for the citizenry, and has already become so encased in his bubble that he doesn't hear the feedback on that. That's enough for a seismic shift right there, but we also have damn near 10% unemployment and a skyrocketing national debt.

Say, RML, if you are so eager to go searching, why not find us that gloating thread about Senator Franken throwing a slap at Senator Lieberman? An example of how the Democrats are incompetent to comprehend long-term consequences would be useful.

Richie, you can answer a number of questions for me here.

First, why are the conservative posters here so insecure that they constantly need to play grab-ass with each other?

And those lies were?

I'm not sure even where to begin with this nonsense.

So let's go point by point.

How has he expressed contempt for the citizenry?

The unemployment rate has been stable.  Granted that it is too high, but it is not increasing.

Now if you want to talk about the "skyrocketing" national debt you might think about whether you really want to go there.

It was Reagan that started us on this path and Dubya who pushed us over the edge.

Why not find it yourself and post it for us Richie, since I have no idea what you are referring to and you were the one that brought it up?

So, it is OK that lefty posters can support each other, but not non-lefty members?

Talk about classic.

What's wrong rml?  You feel like it's OK to fight an isolated individual, but you get all upset when it looks like more than one person disagrees with you?

Hell, Rich and I and some others have had almost nothing but a waterfall of attacks by lefties. We expect it.

You should just quit whining about us and concentrate on trying to understand what we are saying and why.
