Really? You weren't watching '06? That was the election to end the war in Iraq.

Not while Bush was still pres. How conveniently the right forgets that...you have no choice.

But what is the value of putting out results that defy logic but which can influence perceptions of the current electoral climate among political elites as well as the public?

Because that is all the right has done for 2 years and because of the unending gullibility and ignorance of the American voting public and...it began to work.

Now the left is exposing the lies and propaganda and the numbers logically turn around. Fairly obvious to most observers.

Well...it's not quite that simple.

Republicans lost in 2006 and 2008 because people were fed up with the rubber stamping of Bush's neo-con policies.

Not....repeat, not....because they saw Democrats as the saviors. They were merely the available alternative. That and an excellent get out the vote for Obama in '08 (which was really the one about ending the war).

That leaves, in 2010, a fair share of Democrats in largely Republican districts newly elected by thin margins in '08. Two years spent with poor employment figures and poorly presented stimulus spending. Now, it's throw the bums out time again, and while yes, Republicans aren't offering anything except undoing the New Deal and health care (which, despite their rhetoric, has several aspects with broad appeal), and their approval rating trails even that of Congress, but as the opposition party, they stand to gain.

Wasted opportunities on both sides, frankly. Democrats need spines; Republicans need solutions.

Nov. 2 comes down to around 100 very close elections. Face it--while it's not as certain as they crow, Republicans have a very real shot at the House.

But that's not the real story. All they can do with that is keep playing opposition--the Senate isn't going to play with them, and Obama will veto their attempts at repeal. But they are also well-poised to pick up governorships, and in a period of redistricting, and with many states giving governors veto power over redistricting plans, THAT will almost certainly be a coup for Republicans.

Dont be rash. Are you sure? A chance? A real chance???

Actually, we have a chance at the Senate.

The RCP WV average is skewed by a reallllly strange Marshall U poll, Boxer is below 50%, the fat lady hasn't sung in Oregon.
What's going to be fun is seeing Dims with the fear of God, association with 0bama0, and real fear of the Tea Party vote Republican. Maybe try to caucus with us [:D]

Musicmystery -> RE: Newsweek: Obama Approval jumps (10/24/2010 9:56:08 PM)

Don't be such an ass.

"A very real shot" is hardly the same as "a chance."

The Tea Party isn't a real party, remember? You'll need something to caucus about. Actually governing is more difficult than simplistic slogans. And it's still just Republicans voting Republicans--the influence part came in the primaries.

My bad, and my apology. I did not misquote you on purpose.

But the only thing that will save the House for the Dims is if NancyFran flies to Pakistan, kills OBL in hand to hand combat, and delivers the head on a pike to 0bama0.
Who eats it raw with mustard. [:D]

Hell, then I might vote Dim. In a couple local races involving sanitation and such. [:D][:D]

Well as per the OP, I think rebutting his statement is that simple at least as it refers to the public getting smart to repub demagoguery on Obama/dem policies and laws.

As for your take on 11/2 you may be correct but I am not convinced the dems will lose either house. Repubs state level redo's concern me, they having no scruples as reflected by Delay in Texas. They will stop at nothing to gain power outside the ballot box...if necessary.

That's why they're considered close.

As President Obama has learned, Muse. LOL

I have to disagree with you on something you said earlier. I haven't the time to debate it, but I'm sticking by my assertion that the '06 campaign was more "end Iraq" oriented, while '08 was all about Obama, and the anti-war voters bought into him. '06 was also the meanest fuck without a kiss afterwards we have seen in a while. How long did it take the Democrats to throw Cindy Sheehan off the bus?

JMO and have a great day

Charles6682 -> RE: Newsweek: Obama Approval jumps (10/25/2010 1:50:57 AM)

This country need's a REAL third party solution. Not the tea party non-sense.A real and serious third party alternative. That would like the fire under both party's real fast.
