Democrats Back Tea Parties to Siphon Votes

In Pennsylvania, the Democratic candidate for a suburban Philadelphia House seat, Bryan Lentz, admitted this week that his volunteers helped Jim Schneller — a prominent skeptic of President Obama’s citizenship — collect petitions to run against Mr. Lentz and his Republican opponent, Pat Meehan.

There are several more examples in the article, but campaign staff, out gathering signatures to put the birther on the ballot, seemed like the snip to go with.

(Yes. I altered the New York Times headline to better match the content of the story.)

There's been a lot of that going around.  I think it was in Minnesota that the Dems actually sponsored their own "TEA party" slate of candidates, and it took a lawsuit (or threat of one) to get them to acknowledge it, and take them out.

Might have been another one of those corrupt, Dem controlled northern states, but I'm not really interested in googling it right now.

Besides, it will give me some more ammo when the lefties come in and call it BS. [:D]

Sucks to be you guys huh?

You created the monster and now are complaining when it is not turning out the way you want.

What did you really think was going to end up happening when you divided your own party?

And let's not get all wide-eyed and innocent because the Democrats are turning it against you.  That's called politics.  Just ask Karl Rove.

Moonhead -> RE: About those secret supporters of the tea party (10/24/2010 8:09:24 AM)

It's a strange thing to be complaining about given that the Republicans haven't been above funding Ralph Nader's campaign a couple of times.

Lucylastic -> RE: About those secret supporters of the tea party (10/24/2010 8:16:04 AM)

but but, I thought the tea party was a mix of dems and repubs and moderates, it was a group of people fed up with the spending and taxes, etc etc, on both sides of the aisle, not just the nutty GOP
now its a big ol shock that there are some dems are baggers??
OMG say it aint so
colour me pissin myself laughing

slvemike4u -> RE: About those secret supporters of the tea party (10/24/2010 8:36:48 AM)

I believe this is called major league politics(and about time the Dems learned how to play it at this level).

TheHeretic -> RE: About those secret supporters of the tea party (10/24/2010 8:37:44 AM)

Moderate democrat voters who don't like the out of control and unbudgeted spending are one thing, Lucy. These are not converts, or those who might be persuaded.

Yeah, it's funny. I think one of the funnier parts is that it's coming out a week before the election, but I snicker every time I picture the earnest young liberal volunteer, collecting signatures to put the birther on the ballot.

Lucylastic -> RE: About those secret supporters of the tea party (10/24/2010 8:40:38 AM)

slvemike4u -> RE: About those secret supporters of the tea party (10/24/2010 8:41:18 AM)

I think you'll get your wish, Lucy. I see a certain symmetry in the return of the governor who signed the law allowing public employees to unionize, returning to deal with his creation.

slvemike4u -> RE: About those secret supporters of the tea party (10/24/2010 9:19:22 AM)

Are you suggesting that public employees should be denied the right to union representation?

Even if a candidate only gets one vote, its not a vote thrown away, mike.

Lucylastic -> RE: About those secret supporters of the tea party (10/24/2010 9:20:23 AM)

heh... evility comes in many forms
who am I to deny you yours

Hey,I once voted for Perot...damm right a vote can be thrown away.Still preferable than sitting on one's ass and not taking part in the process...but casting a vote for an unelectable candidate is indeed throwing one's vote away. But perhaps I'm being too harsh....the Yankees not getting to the World Series has me a little grumpy [:)].

Yes. I think public employee unions should be banned, Mike, at least for the purpose of collective bargaining. Follow the employment laws, as laid down for private enterprise.

I also think we should completely rethink how we staff public sector jobs, but that is a whole different kettle of fish.

tazzygirl -> RE: About those secret supporters of the tea party (10/24/2010 9:34:26 AM)

If you want someone to be in office, then vote for them. Surprisingly enough, i dont believe anyone can throw away a vote. That vote speaks to alot of things... how we feel about our country and government, about the candidate themselves, and about each other. And, if enough people stopped looking at it as a wasted vote and more about speaking their opinions, the results could be staggering.

slvemike4u -> RE: About those secret supporters of the tea party (10/24/2010 9:39:54 AM)

So one takes a job in the public sector.....and loses a fundamental right in the process. That is some sort of tradeoff.

I'd like to see this thread stay on topic, Mike. I did rant on the side topic a bit on another thread, a while back.
