Is there some problem why when I reply to a message my own user ID pops up in the 'To' field? I don't want to message myself, just the person I'm responding to. Is there something I can do about this and if so, what exactly?

Other than that, you can try replacing your name in the 'to' field with the name of the person that you are replying to.
