Here in Iowa, good and bad. Then there is the purely comical.

They re-elected Branstad....morons. Such a short memory most people have.

Voted to get rid of judges because, OMG, the three we can voted to uphold the state constitution and support gay marriage. Yet, get this, they also voted to not allow changes with the state constitution. A big "WTF!!!!"

The happiest news of all, Miller-Meeks LOST!!!!!!!!!

I like my local results. Between County Commisioners and School Board we were able to eliminate four career politicians. The few career politicians left have noticed the trend and we will see if they continue business as usual politics here locally.

In the state house we elected a non-Republican (Independent) for the first time in over 100 years, yeah it's the bible belt. Probably because the Republican candidate was an absolute idiot who didnt know how to do anything but sling mud. I asked him what he planned on doing if he won and he just stared at me like a deer in the headlights.

Sounds like the conversation I tried to have with Miller-Meeks. Blank stare then a live version of the, lots of words with no content, of all her advertising. Zero substance. Just bash the other guy.

We've been "throwing the bums" out for two centuries.

Just how/why do people think that's going to start working now?

<Insert insanity definition.>

KenDckey -> RE: Election Results and Rants - Comments (11/3/2010 10:51:48 AM)

Hey Music   Throwing out the bums is an American way of life.    Problem is we just run around and elect more bums to replace the ones we thru out so we can throw them out ..........

I'm extremely disappointed in my state's results. But as I stated in another thread, the fact that the People of Massachusetts elected a woman < Suzanne Bump > who, at her husbands suggestion, hired a convicted murderer < Robin Murphy > for a state job. Not only did she hire her, she defends it. Of note her hubby, who suggested this murderous woman, works for some reform program for convicts. Legal ? Perhaps, but certainly not ethical.

The fact that this murderer has a state job, with state benefits and a generous state pension abso-fucking-lutely disgusts me. And the fact that a majority of voters apparently don't give a shit disgusts me further. Bump happens to be a Dem, but I assure you my feelings on this one are not political.

" Marsden’s shocking murder was one of three Satanic ritual killings that rocked Fall River in the early 1980s. Murphy, a former teen prostitute, and Drew, her former pimp, dragged Marsden into the woods, where Murphy slit her throat. Drew tore the woman’s head from her body and kicked it.

Retired Fall River Detective Paul Carey — the lead investigator on the cult murders — fought Murphy’s release and told the Herald: “I think she’s a dangerous person and I said that at the parole hearing.” "

I wonder how the Republicans can fulfill the promises.   you know that in all probability the Democrats won't let them and/or Obama won't sign them.

Interesting reading....

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/11/01/AR2010110106753.html

Republicans have a message for the businesses that worked closely with the Obama administration over the past two years on key controversial issues: We won't forget.

GOP Pledges to Punish Businesses That Worked With Democrats

Keep in mind, this isn't the first hint of the K Street Project's return we've seen. In May, GOP leaders announced they were "keeping score" when it came to corporate PACs' campaign donations. If lobbyists want to start writing legislation again, the way they did before there was a Democratic majority, the implication was that they'd have to start buying that influence once again.

You mean there is a downside to businesses engaging a political process originally reserved for citizens?

If she doesn't, I do.

People in those businesses have rights as citizens. That's their voice.

Businesses wishing to participate as citizens should lose their corporate status.

servantforuse -> RE: Election Results and Rants - Comments (11/3/2010 1:55:46 PM)

Businesses pay taxes and have every right to engage in the political process.

KenDckey -> RE: Election Results and Rants - Comments (11/3/2010 2:23:22 PM)

If you outlaw business just cause they have voiced their opinion, then you have to outlaw PACs and unions and non-profits and every other entity except an individual.  Don't believe you will get many supporters for that one.

truckinslave -> RE: Election Results and Rants - Comments (11/3/2010 2:34:20 PM)

Yeah. Your fellow Californians doubled down on stupid. ( So did my fellow 'eers, although maybe not quite as obviously). No federal bailout in sight, either.

You didn't mention continuing decline in home prices. Should be some investment opportunities after the crash!

Good. As 0bama0 said: " Reward your friends, punish your enemies".
