A year or two back, one of your government departments reported that there were two states in danger of structural collapse - one of them being Mexico, due to widespread drug violence.

If their police force, military and government dissolve, the current flow of drugs into your country will look like a trickle. How do you propose the collapse should be prevented, and if it happens (anyway), what would your own goverment do then?

Said it before. We bring the troops home from Overseas and deploy them into Mexico. Seems that country is becoming seriously unhinged and a direct threat. There seemed to have been some stability there when ex-pat payments back to Mexico had been high. But with those sources drying up I think this violence and breaking down could be predicted.

Erect a concrete wall 50 feet high at the border with armed soldiers stationed every 50 ft with automatic weapons and heavy artillery as support.

The reality is if Mexico dissolves any further than it has, we'll be facing an actual invasion of Mexicans seeking to saddle us with their warlord/territory issues. As military history shows us, those issues will spread right up to our borders and beyond if we choose not to take a stand against it. And I'd FAR rather see our soldiers protecting our borders as opposed to the land of other countries.

I don't know how to fix the quote box issue here but I wanted to respond.

The problem with not guarding our boarders against drug cartels is that the Mexican government is facing is because it couldn't or wouldn't stop the cartels from being warlords. In that, I mean there are wars over territory and if they go unchecked and are allowed to cross our borders, American soil will only become yet another territory that these druglords are fighting over. If we don't take a stand to prevent that from spreading into our country, we'll end up just like Mexico...without any kind of functioning government, civilians and law enforcement being gunned down during territory battles, and, in the end, becoming a warlord state.

Don't believe me? Look at Mexico.

Mexico is what it is because it is Mexico...your fears that we could become like Mexico ignores completley all of the impediments our form of gov't and our well established law enforcement/justice system would pose to such an outlandish proposition.
To read your post one just might think the visogoths are at the walls and it is time to man the ramparts.Just not so...and in no danger of being so.

No, I think it's better the devil I know. If the US didn't exist, some damn fool would have to invent it. My bet is it would be the Chinese. And the worry is they'd be even better at it than you guys.
