I think we might not be getting the entire story. They do not send a SWAT team without a very good reason. The truth shall set you free.

What reason would they go in without a warrant?

Around here where I live barbershops are fronts for drug sellers. Very few actually cut hair and yet they're on every street corner and every week they get busted.

And that's a good justification for changing the rules of the game? Slippery slope, if you ask me. Where do you draw the line?

So if I wanted some grass, all I gotta do is ask my barber?

WAY COOL!  I am in.

you could probably get weed but they're fronts for more hardcore drugs....heroine, cocaine, ecstasy, selling of handguns.

Most of these places are run by gangmembers. I'm guessing this invasion on barbershops had nothing to do with licensing even though very few of these shops have licenses because well...no one cuts hair there!

I'm guessing they know that these places don't have licenses because of what they are used for and this is the easiest way to shut them down at least temporarily.

Let's be clear, I am against selling hard drugs, or hand guns for that matter. However, anyone who has had no experience with the police as being overly aggressive, more than willing to step on your constitutional rights, and being just plain rude, should perhaps not contribute to a forum with this subject matter.

This happens all the time. Complain about it and it will happen again during the course of the complaint. Complain even higher up and get a captain who will "work on it."

In case you do not know it, your personal rights as an individual have been seriously eroded. Many rights you had even five years ago, you do not have now. The US is moving towards being a police state. And they are not taking care of the violent criminals in your neighborhood. They are going after the pot smokers and those "criminals" who are easy to bust. And let's not forget any person who profiles as a "terrorist."

You might not think of this as a personal issue, but consider this: it is only a matter of time before those big dark lines they draw between good and bad include you. This is what happens in a police state.

When you are searching for a certain level of perfection, very few are "perfect enough."

As a child of the 60s, I have been ASTOUNDED as to what has happened recently in terms of personal rights.

"There but for the grace of God."

It's not just a saying these days.

So that means it's OK to go in with out warrants?

Did you know that the Constitution requires there be a warrant and that several Supreme Court decisions have prevented previous law enforcement efforts to get around the requirement?

Do you know that warrants are required no matter how serious the alleged crime, for more serious than drug operations even?

Are young people today even aware of what a warrant is or why the Constitution requires it?

I think ignorance of such basic knowledge is even scarier than the raids themselves.

It's simply a test balloon, to see if they can get away with it without the public becoming too outraged.

I checked, to see if anyone else covered the story:

Really ? You figure this is just a precursor to another more ominous developement ?
Seriously?
This is how you figure it starts ?.....Barbershop raids...perhaps a quartet ?

um yah mike in fact that is eactly how it starts.  Germany was pretty much the same way.

Hell they even wear nazi helmets but did you notice that some people just "dont get it"?

they have no fucking clue on any level.  its all bout how they "feel" at the time.

I told this young gal at the checkout desk about how they can turn on her cell phone to transmit everything she was saying without her knowing it.

her response was "oh thats ok I dont have anything to hide"

Proving the average iq of an american is about 25.

You put way too much emphasis on symbolism. If you're going to use it, sprinkle it lightly, like cinnamon in a coffee.

Germany did start out that way... look up how gun registry ended up disarming the unwanted elements the early nazi regime, like Jews, Catholics and Romani..

tl;dr Who cares about their helmets?? Had a possibly good point, but lost it there.

"Does anyone have any raw milk for sale ? I want it straight out of the cow"

Mods note, I put that in quotation marks because not to do so would be in violation of TOS. Want to talk heading for a police state ? you're about thirty years too late. I enjoyed that real homemade ice cream, too bad the rest never will, legally. Not the stuff we made.

Yes the good old days. Back before we learned how to burn things that grow in the ground and drink things that ferment. EVIL, EVIL, EVIL I tell you. The boook says so. Hey, we had eggs on that farm back then too, but now I'm sure they need to be checked for compliance with the regulations on additives. Like the virus they put in milk now, you can't have milk without the required additives or water either. It is not your choice, it is that of your God.

Go to jail, ain't all that much different. Chris Rock - "Life is catching up to jail". Really once life has so many regulations, what is the difference ? A wall around the country ? It's been tried, much better to fool the inmates into thinking they're free.

I would rather deal with criminals.

Well I am sure they feared for their lives. Have you ever seen how sharp a barber keeps his scissors?

I know the story but the new movie sucked...I watched about 10 minutes.

The singing made me nauseous.

Nope. Don't really have it on my calendar, either. Is it recommended?

No, they're your run-of-the-mill Appalachian rednecks, northern branch.
