cuckoldmepls -> Denair Middle School Student Told to Remove Flag (11/13/2010 7:02:19 AM)

A middle school student had been flying an American flag on the back of his bicycle for 2 months, then all of a sudden on veterans day, a supervisor told him he had to remove it since it was causing racial tensions.

People if this doesn't make you realize how insane the liberals are, nothing will. They have since changed their tune at the public outcry and directed their attention to the students who didn't like it, but this incident should be a wake up call to all Americans. Liberals are nutts and anti American.

Yeah, a conservative Supervisor/School board would have also told him to remove it.

And thoughtless responses because you think they are clever or that anyone actually gives a fuck what a half-wit thinks is ALL you do.

Try posting something that you actually thought through instead of snarks or links that you think constitute "research" sometime.

so your half-wittedness has led you to the place where you know that nobody gives a fuck what you think then, has it?

How the fuck does an American flag cause "racial tensions"?

I know you'd never trouble to wonder that something didn't add up, so I took a look--not exactly like you told it:

“A school employee said some students have been complaining about my flag and I needed to take it down,” Alicea said. “So I took it down. I was kind of mad and upset because I have been flying it for two months and all of a sudden its Veterans week and it’s a problem.”

The Denair Unified School District backed up the campus supervisor’s decision, in part because they had previously made other students stop displaying the flag of Mexico on Cinco de Mayo.

However, after an outcry was raised locally and from afar, the district reversed that call on Friday, once again allowing Alicea to fly Old Glory.

So what does this prove? Something we already knew--that school districts are capable of great idiocy.

Oh, I forget--education is inherently liberal.

Go get laid, if you can. Chill out. Enjoy a refreshing beverage.

I did think this through, boy. What i didnt see in this link or any link are the political leanings of any school board members. You are yet again assuming shit not in evidence, simply because, in some fucked up way they make sense in your world. Well, thank ou for allowing us to visit your fantasy world.. but i prefer reality.

I must have missed something in your article.

Can you point out out to me where it said anything about liberals?

Actually what it showed me was some schools have idiots running them and you are a bigot. Well, I already knew the last part, but it was sweet of you to confirm it for me once again.

Irony at its finest Willbur. You are quick to do the very thing you moan about, yet play holier than thou.

Also in California, several students wearing tshirts that had American flags on them were sent home on Cinco de Mayo this year, as it "disrespected the Hispanic students to have to look at an American flag."

I don't think it had anything to do with liberal/conservative.  I sometimes think California is in the process of giving itself back to Mexico after the bankruptcy.

pahunkboy -> RE: Denair Middle School Student Told to Remove Flag (11/14/2010 7:41:18 AM)

I think the size of the flag is abit much.  We all know where we are at.

But then to each his own.

Stupid decision if you ask me....which you sort of did [:)]

If we remove the liberal and conservative rhetoric in this thread and talk about what actually happened in this instance there are some important questions don’t you all think?

Should children be allowed to display patriotism in our schools?

I think they should but I can understand where it could be a distraction to education. I would suggest that that school have a day set aside where all students are allowed and encouraged to display their patriotism and make a learning experience of it.

What happened here objectively is that some student complained because they got stopped on Cinco de Mayo (which is the first problem--what's the big deal? Cultural diversity and all.) Then some "supervisor," whatever that is, took the complaint too seriously, and on Veterans Day no less--another poor decision, presumably from a poorly trained staff person. Then a school board, doing what school boards see as their main function, avoiding even the hint of a lawsuit, and hating to ever admit they might be wrong, stood behind the supervisor. Like most things that happen in middle school, overreactions to nonsense all the way around.

kdsub -> RE: Denair Middle School Student Told to Remove Flag (11/14/2010 8:51:13 AM)

For the second question…does it bother anyone that young Hispanic students were evidently complaining about and maybe harassing this boy who was innocently just displaying the flag of his country?

I mean we can gloss over and conveniently forget this part of the story and not face up to the implications.

This young man was the one being sanctioned when those complaining and harassing should have been. If not sanctioned then a parents meeting would have been appropriate to discuss the situation.

I cannot understand how the innocent displaying of the flag of our country could be considered the cause for racial tension, at least on the part of the boy displaying it. I do believe the racial tension involved was on the part of those complaining and they should have been the ones disciplined.

This is the United States and its flag should be displayed with pride.
