Footstool73 -> Attn Mistresses/Goddesses/Princesses! (11/13/2010 7:07:08 PM)

Hello all Superior women!

Could someone explain to me the difference between?:

-A Mistress
-A Goddess
-A Princess

Thank You in advance for Your reply! :)

PeonForHer -> RE: Attn Mistresses/Goddesses/Princesses! (11/13/2010 7:28:43 PM)

I think those terms would be used quite differently depending on the dominants and submissives involved, Footstool.  Me, I could imagine using each one, at different times, with the same woman. (Though, 'Goddess' would probably get saved for very special times.)  But I know that a lot of Dommes will wince at hearing one or another of them.

DarkSteven -> RE: Attn Mistresses/Goddesses/Princesses! (11/13/2010 8:31:36 PM)

Forget it.  Just ask her how she wants to be addressed.

BBBTBW -> RE: Attn Mistresses/Goddesses/Princesses! (11/13/2010 8:46:07 PM)

All three of those terms make me whince. I also don't like the term DOMME. Call me Ma'am until we are better aquainted, then I will give you my real name if we are to continue conversing.

To the OP. They mean different things to different people. I am with Steven on this one. Start out respectul and address her by the name you know her by in an initial contact. eg: Ms BBBTBW for me. Then ask her how she prefers to be addressed.

LadyNTrainer -> RE: Attn Mistresses/Goddesses/Princesses! (11/13/2010 9:42:51 PM)

It's whatever the fuck she wants it to be.

I don't personally enjoy being fitted into any one of those stereotypical molds. They're really no different from any other social meme telling you to be A Nice Girl. Not my scene, thanks. I'm dominant when I'm just being my normal self; I don't need titles or roles that other people make up to limit or stereotype me, or to fetishize me.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Attn Mistresses/Goddesses/Princesses! (11/13/2010 10:08:11 PM)

No BDSM glossary, huh? I am a Princess, myself, though in my world that's as much about noblesse oblige as bossing the serfs about. Mistress is the female form of Master, plenty of those about. Goddess...well, that seems a trifle presumptuous to me, though the right kind of worship is always welcome ;)

Princess? And here I thought you were merely a Lady.

I have to admit that I intuitively associate "princess" with immaturity and needing to be spoiled, but I guess that's really a bit silly considering that Princess Anne turned 60 this year. I think of "Mistress" as kind of a default title for a dominant woman, although I guess it also has vague connotations of a sneering bitch in leather and high heels. "Goddess" does seem presumptuous, if not downright delusional, and it perhaps creates expectations that would be difficult for a mortal woman to live up to. However, I always try to pay more attention to the person than to the title in any case.

MissAsylum -> RE: Attn Mistresses/Goddesses/Princesses! (11/14/2010 1:38:12 PM)

agreed with the general response here of whatever she wants to be called.

personal opinion: I go by Miss- not short for Mistress. Princess...eh...there is a "damsel in distress" association for me. No thanks, I can rescue myself. I'm not keen on Goddess. I just don't consider myself to be a deity.

PeonForHer -> RE: Attn Mistresses/Goddesses/Princesses! (11/14/2010 2:17:56 PM)

I guess there are two ways in which one might look at the use of such words.  They could be seen as protocol-based, in which case it's perhaps more important to establish stricter, more public definitions.  Or they could be roughly equivalent to the terms of endearment that are used by vanilla lovers, most especially during moments of passion.  For me, such words would then be more part of our private world than just about anything.  They'd then 'belong' entirely to her and me, and nobody else's definition of them would matter a damn.

Hah!  One of those words, I know I'd whisper, in the heat of the moment and as I look up at her, preceded by the word 'Oh'.  But it'd be so private that not even she might know about it.  She'd have to listen carefully.  I'm one of those who, the more passionate he feels, the less noise he makes.

I actually thought LadyPact would be the first to respond to my comment, to say something like, 'Can't you have both public and private definitions?'  - to which I'd reply, 'I see no reason why not'.

Thats hot.............darn you!

Tantriqu -> RE: Attn Mistresses/Goddesses/Princesses! (11/14/2010 5:46:23 PM)

I have particular code words which work beyond and behind closed doors, so there's never any chance of being inappropriate.

But when in private a naked alpha male kneels and says a particular title in a strained whisper . . . I cascade.

Is it odd that the above comment weirded Me out a little bit?  It's kind of funny that you should know Me that well.  Tell Me again the reason I haven't beaten you in some way???

You are on the money.  It's not even just the word itself, it's the way it's said.  That's even true of the way clip will call Me "Mistress" in the every day kind of tone and the way he says it when it is under more intimate circumstances.   I love it when it's said in just the right way and frankly, it is hot as hell.

I almost forgot the OP.  I'm blaming that on the distraction.  [:)]

My personal definition of the three:

Goddess - Used more in a "worship" type of arrangement.

Princess - Younger, generally the spoiling type.

Mistress - Denotes a M/s dynamic between the parties.  Otherwise, protocol dictates that a name should be used in conjunction with the title.

Yes, I have made a wise choice of Internet Love Slave. ;)

Wheldrake -> RE: Attn Mistresses/Goddesses/Princesses! (11/15/2010 11:57:09 AM)

It's kind of interesting to see how these terms play out across gender lines. The BDSM community seems to have a lot more Princesses than Queens, and hardly any Kings or Princes. There are definitely more Ladies than Lords, although I suspect there are more Daddies than Mommies. There are a few female Masters, but no male Mistresses (well, apart from transgendered types, and that's a different kettle of fish). Admittedly there aren't that many Goddesses, but has anyone ever encountered a dominant man who refers to himself as God?

I should think that such a man would keep a little bit quiet about it if he did. [;)]

I was also thinking, what about Caesars, Kaisers and Emperors?   Not too surprised we never hear of an 'Empress', though.  It'd make a woman sound old.  Also, possibly, fat.

Why do I suspect you're thinking of Queen Victoria? She's not the only Empress who ever lived, y'know. And besides, if she were alive today, and wanted to spank you... would you tell her no?

I've never thought that either maturity or, shall we say, physical gravitas was incompatible with total dominant hotness. Quite the opposite, if anything. So bring on the Empresses, not to mention the Tsarinas and the Kaiserinnen.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Attn Mistresses/Goddesses/Princesses! (11/15/2010 1:37:34 PM)

Actually I know of a few empresses, and at least one queen!

There are lords aplenty out there, I recall an imperator, and yeah, a prince or three. They are out there!
