facepalm. incorporation allows for cities to pass their own laws rather than only being part of a larger area such as a county, state or country. I thought you conspiratists believed in local government and states rights type stuff.

Tell ya what. I gave up on the illusion of ownership a very long time ago. You only have things. The only thing anyone on this planet has ever owned was his/her own mind or soul. Nothing made of matter can be owned. And that does not just mean us serfs, that means everybody. They can't own it either. Just what did you come out of yo mamas birth canal with ? Well the basis of the law is that they're providing a substantial risk to drivers on the road who would have to swerve to avoid a pedestrian in an area where pedestrians shouldn't be. Sort of like how driving drunk doesn't actually hurt anyone, it's only when you crash that there's a problem, but it poses a risk high enough to other people that it's seen as worth preventing.
