Ehehehe... I like this thread.

And for those of you who don't get to choose how the steak gets cooked? I'm not even allowed TO cook! ....Master doesn't trust me with any kind of uncooked meat.

As for my silly limits...
I think my biggest one is my art, books, and music. I lump them all together because they pretty much are all together. I draw things that I've read about sometimes, I listen to music when I draw or read, I couldn't live without one or the other just as much as either of the others. And all three? Egads, kill me now.
And Master - bless his heart - is not a huge book person unless it's based on a movie. He has half a shelf of books... I have two book cases worth. He says that we'll need at least two rooms when we get our own place, because I'll need an office JUST for my books! So at least I know that I am well taken care of ;)
Plus.. he sorta kinda takes advantage of my artistic skills by making me draw all his homework for him (SSSHHHH I didn't say that!).

Other hard limits include anything that keeps me away from my beloved dark chocolate, and video and computer games... I am a total geek.

His biggest limits included lack of makeup - which was pretty funny in the sense that when we first met I had worn makeup all of... once or twice in my entire life, and anything that would get in the way of his love of movies. I've worn makeup more times in the past two years than my entire life before that, and boy, was he lucky that I happen to put effort into other peoples' hobbies that I care about - otherwise he might never have gotten his Bluesmobile, and it would never have gotten signed by Dan Aykroyd (the original Elwood)! It was MY voice that got his attention! Booyah!
He's still spoiling me rotten as thanks for doing that for him.

That was really cute! I'm super picky about food, and one of the more difficult things that was asked of me by someone who I was submissive toward was eating eel. He didn't make it an order, and was supportive about it, and I really wanted to please him, so I tried a bit.

Did you like it? I don't like eel - bleh.

The man made me eat Menudo once.  I still shiver a bit when I remember it.

My uncompromising displeasure with the lack of an ability to maintain a level of emotional maturity and personal integrity indeed is non-negotiable. I will negotiate just about anything that is not characteristically related, however when a lady has no self motivation to maintain her own emotional maturity and personal integrity is when it is a deal-breaker, hard and swift.

Take care!

Yep, it's often the everyday stuff where the real challenge arises! Like the OP, i also find it hard to have to express every thought because my damn face gives it away that i've thought one! i have one of those twisty little minds that tends to come up with something smart ass and then my conscious thinks in and decides it's not tactful so i would choose not to say it out loud ... but Master spots the first twisty little look and insists i say it! That's one time when i often get all spacey giggly on the humiliation of having to put it into words. Fortunately that seems to offset any genuine upset He might feel if my inner joke has been at His expense!

Music can be tricky for us as i have much wider and more eclectic tastes than Him! Yes, even to folk and bluegrass though i draw the line at show tunes and opera! He is pretty much into heavy rock and heavy metal and guitar and that's it. Our first ever disagreement was about music, which is kinda funny as we are both musicians! These days, when we listen to music in the car, we have resorted to having all our stuff on iPod and we use shuffle so there's a chance for either of our music to come up! Though He still grumbles that the iPod prefers my stuff to His LOL so sometimes i have to fast forward a few to get to one of His to keep it a bit fairer. i've written before that it was a real problem for me to yield musical control to Him when we decided to play music together, i've ALWAYS been the leader of every other musical grouping i've been involved with over many years. But after an initial argument (and some furious weeding of the garden by Him while He cooled off), i submitted ... and wow, it was so easy after that!

It's just so important to keep the lines of communication open on these things. And as to the Christmas trees ... well, given its summer here in Australia, real ones are pretty impractical so i've got used to fake ones for years. In the van, well we have a very very small one! And He likes to put up some lights ...

Very funny thread - gave me a morning giggle

But on a more serious side, it's these "stupid things" that have had me shy away from being a slave and giving myself the sticky brown paper label of "submissive". I have so many things in my life that make me happy - bad movies, good coffee, my books, a rather eclectic collection of music, my writing, my occasional need to take a college course.

And then there's my career. It's extremely important to me, and I've just had a fledgeling relationship stop before it started because the guy could not understand why I need to work on a sunday afternoon/evening to prepare for the upcoming week, and why I want an early night so I can awaken refreshed on a monday morning.

Without the things I've listed above, I would not be at my happiest. Those things keep my mind oiled up and ready for use, and my heart happy and ready to give and love. I wouldn't be "me" if I didn't have my "stupid stuff"

Dom: What are your hard limits?
Sub: Christmas trees, plants, books, Diet Coke, and candles.
Dom: Er, I don't think I follow. Nothing sexual with these items?
Sub: No, I mean I won't give them up.
Dom: Uh, okay, but sex with another woman is okay?
Sub: Yeah, I'm not actually bi, but I can float there if you like it.
Dom: As long as you get a live Christmas tree?
Sub: Yep.

That reduced me to fits of the giggles. Nice one

PS: On the Christmas tree front, I loved decorating a real tree when I was a kid, but these days the mess, hassle, time and suchlike mean I'm a fan of the "plug in, complete with lights" artificial trees.

My new Swiss Army Knife.  It's a 'Swiss Champ' - the Rolls Royce, the king - nay, the emperor - of penknives..  No woman is ever going to take it from me.  In fact, no woman is ever even going to touch it, unless she has lost all love for her life.

Mine would have to be my dogs. They keep me sane. When things are bothering me I walk until I get things back in perspective. Who else but my dogs will walk for miles with me without expecting me to talk to them

Other one has to be my hair. I have to have a say in how I get it cut. I will colour it tartan if I have to, as long as I can have a say in the style. See compromise

HA ha ha Peon, unless she looks you sternly in the eye and says "Give me that knife, let me see it, put it in my hand, NOW!" Then you're going to have a boner the size of Belgium (your words not mine, I would suspect more like Luxembourg) and will hand over your precious Swiss Army Knife...

Well.  Hmmmm.  That might work.  Kissing your psychopathic Domermann on the lips in order to stop it snarling might also work.  Both could be somewhat risky tactics, though, I would suggest.

"Whomsoever plucks this Swiss Army Knife* from this stone ... he shall be king!"

*why do the Swiss Army need knives? They never fight anyone!**
** <a trench in northern Switzerland> "The enemy are invading. Looks like we're done for, Corporal Heidi" ... "No, we shall never surrender, Sergeant Alpen, for I have ... my Swiss Army Knife! Now, let's see ... bottle opener ... small knife blade ... wee squiggly thing that gets stones out of horses' hooves ... ah ha! Surface to surface missile! I knew it was in there somewhere!"***

Watch it what you say about my gorgeous little girl! And if the guy was a sub, the trick with trying to kiss Kia worked, in case he was into verbal abuse he got a ton of it for free, if anybody was psychopathic, it was the guy, he seriously molested my dog, hurt her, didn't leave her in peace when she growled and I told him off, then grabbed her hindleg and tore it sideways (which really hurts a dog) and she finally nipped him lightly (before I could rip his head off) and so lightly that he had to squeeze to get a drop of blood out, after that he tried to grab her head and kiss her on the nose, that's when I turned psychopathic and told him that he's the biggest idiot that walked the face of the earth. According to the cops and the vet, Kia as a very well adjusted and placid bitch who showed outmost restrain and the RSPCA dealt with the idiot and the cops took him to task for wasting police time, the fact that he was drunk as a skunk didn't help him much. Calling my sweetheart psychopathic! Peon, you got it coming, and not in a good way... Your kidnapping scene, you know you want to watch some old movies, the mafia and the mob used to give people concrete shoes...

That's one of those times where I so wish we could just step back, say nothing, and let nature take its course. Net result? Lots of blood, some mopping up, and one less drunken fuckwit in the world. "Hey! I'm one car further up in traffic tomorrow!".

Sadly, in a modern society, it's not an option.

It's also a good social metaphor; when I was a lad (not that many years ago), if I had come in crying and screamed a dog had bitten me, my mum's first question would have been to ask what I'd done to annoy the dog, and to ask if I'd learned anything as a result.

Take Chopper's advice - Harden The Fuck Up

Cop comments after talking to witnesses ranged between "Poor dog, shame that she is so placid! No dog should have to put up with this!" and "I wish he would do that with one of our police dogs, it would be one idiot less to deal with..." (from a police dog handler)

Hospital report was something along the lines of "Heavily intoxicated Mr. X came to get a tetanus injection, he claims he was bitten by a large Doberman but we could not see any evidence, he had a an injury that resembled a pin prick at the back of his hand. We kept him overnight not due to the injury but due to his heavy intoxication..." I saw it because he tried to sue me for compensation, oh and he had the good sense to call the cops f***wits when they told him that they investigated and by all accounts it's his own fault and he should be glad that I'm not pressing charges.

Edit: Forgot the best comment from a female police officer who dealt with the guy (apparently a very pleasant gent /sarcasm off) "I hope your dog is up to date with her shots..."
