Palin would hate to be elected to anything, and it would be a steep income drop from her bring a talking head.  Right now, she loves her life - speaks to friendly partisan crowds, doesn't speak to reporters, no accountability, and she makes lotsa money.

Not only would she make a terrible President, she'd be miserable as one.

I suspect she will run just so she can embellish her resume and say she was a candidate, but I expect her to withdraw.

I think around 16% of the US population likes turnips.
I like turnips. And turnip greens. Sweeter than other greens. Boil em up with some butter and a little chicken stock, and spice em up with some ground chipotle. Yum. Sop up the juice with some jalapeno cornbread.

As a part-time Discordian, I think Palin would be the perfect "Being There" presnit. I'd vote for her just to see how badly the Repugs could fuck up the country.

Just like with Christine O'Donnell, the democrats would love for her to be nominated. They wouldn't have to worry about losing the Whitehouse that's for sure.

Half the conservatives won't vote for her, since she talks out of the side of her mouth on Immigration. She has exactly the same stance as McCain does on Immigration, and half the conservatives know she can't be trusted.

Although we are making great strides taking over Congress with Tea Party supported candidates, there are some states and the Whitehouse that we will not be able to win with any candidate supported by or associated with the tea party. Not yet anyway.

I think she'd have a lot of nerve to run for President when she couldn't even stick out her Governorship.

You do realize Obama's approval ratings have never been below 45%.

Gallup Daily: Obama Job Approval

Edited to add that the lowest I have seen has been 43% by conservative polls done by Rasmussen and Fox, but still a strong showing considering Dubya won a second term with similar ratings.

Historical Bush Approval Ratings

Let's throw a little fact checking at that, shall we, RML?

Gallup had President Obama at a 41% just a few weeks ago. Besides Fox, Democracy Corps (sounds pretty conservative, huh) has had him with a 42% along with Schoen and CNN. Besides Rasmussen, Reuters and McClatchy (the MSNBC of print) have had him at 43% in the last six weeks. And he's been below 45% on the RCP average a couple times.

The election is over, the holidays are upon us. Assuming he doesn't bow and apologize to the turkey when he pardons it next week, he should get some goodwill creep into the higher 40's.

The next cycle is off to an odd start. The Republicans are assuming Obama will implode, and the Democrats are assuming they'll be running against an electable.

According to Gallup, his approval rating on Nov 8 was 47%.

http://www.gallup.com/poll/144347/Obama-Approval-Advances-Pre-Election.aspx

Rasmussen agrees.

Lots of speculations, about Hillary jumping on board with Obama...but out of her own mouth she has said "I am NOT interested in VP"...maybe she has her eyes on a higher prize?

Both Palin and Clinton scare me, for different reasons, is there a curtain number 3 ?

Fox News Hosts Mock Sarah Palin When Cameras Go Off - VIDEO

Certain Fox News commentators better hope they don't run into their co-worker Sarah Palin in the network cafeteria, after being caught on live mics mocking the former Alaska governor's new reality show.

In a clip sure to make the Internet rounds, panelists Judith Miller and Liz Trotta are seen in a commercial break during the weekend program "Fox News Watch" giggling over negative reviews given the debut of "Sarah Palin's Alaska" on TLC.

Trotta, a conservative commentator, refers to a Palin article by The New York Times' Alessandra Stanley.
"Alessandra Stanley had the best line," Trotta says. "She said the new show is like 'The Sound of Music,' without the Nazis, without the romance, and without the music." After the panel cracks up, Miller says she likes the review by Hank Stuever in The Washington Post, who opens his commentary with Palin screaming her husband's name.

What is funny about her is a lot of fuckwits seem to think she is normal and sane. She has got a lot of money behind her so I wouldn't be surprised to see her as the next president.It would then take her about 30 seconds to start another war.

more than 30 seconds. It will take at least that long for the other countries to dry their tears of laughter first.

Let's peer into Lance's crystal balls......oh wait, that came out wrong, but you know what I mean.

Republican Ticket:
=============
For Pres: That Midwest-Govenor-almost-got-the-nod-from-McCain-for-VP "AWWwww! What do you mean Palin?  My suitcase is already packed!" Here it is: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/us_elections/article4187549.ece  Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota.

“He would be a very good, safe choice,” said Todd Harris, a former spokesman for McCain. “He’s been an extremely effective governor and he’s able to articulate conservative principles in a way that is not scary to moderates and independents.”
-----------
For V.P and to attract even more of the aforesaid moderates and independents:
Former NJ Gov. Christine Whitman http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christine_Todd_Whitman
-----------
Write off teaparty, religious right, etc.  Elections are ALWAYS won in the middle.  Go get a simple statistics book.  Look up "bell curve."

On the other hand, let Palin make a fool of herself and we'll all be done with her.... VP?  No Republican that I can think of would be willing to stand beside her, literally or figureatively.  Maybe some obscure Lt.Gov....?  Oh, wait!  That's redundant.  I've got it!  Jeb Bush.  I can see the headlines - "Republican National Convention opens to a half-filled hall."  The lead sentence:  Delegates cite "bad weather on the road," and "My daughter seemed to be coming down with a cold."
============
Democratic Party
============
For President, Obama.  Very, very few incumbent first-term [elected] Presidents don't run.  Needs research - anybody?  For V-P ?  Biden, of course.  He did a fine job of bringing in the less-left (i.e. more moderate Dems.)
-----------
Actually, over the years, I think you'll find VP's are terribly, terribly obscure once elected.  And in this day-n-age of heightened security fears, when do you see the Veep with the Pres ???? Oh, about NEVER!

I seriously doubt Biden has anything to "do" other than the tradition funerals and [in the classic bon mot] daily enquiring as to the President's health.

Hillary has the foreign affairs wrapped up and Obama is domesticating his ass off.  [Do you like that new word? "domesticating" bleah!]  That leaves Biden with ZERO to do.

Hillary will NOT challenge Obama in a [another] primary.  Too dirty, too expensive, too mean.  2016? Hillary WINS by a land-slide.
=============
The 2012 Winner? Obama.  "I appeal to all Americans to give me the Congress I need to finish the work we have started."
The 2016 Winner? Mrs. Clinton - The Dems get credit for the economic recovery (not that they have anything to do with it) and she has foreign policy in her [hand] bag.
The 2020 Winner? Mrs. Clinton - steady as she goes.  Get it? ...as she goes.... steady as she goes.... never mind.
The 2024 Winner?  - Cripes!  My ball doesn't see that far - 14 years?
===============
P.S. The President elected in years ending with zero have a curse of assinations and attempted assinations. <Every 20 years>

I think the category was "died while in office," by whatever cause, and held true for presidents elected from 1840 (W.H.Harrison) until  1960 with Kennedy. A 120 year span. With Reagan it got expanded to "or attempted assassination" to try to keep the string going. As for G.W. Bush, probably some kid throwing a spitball in one of his classroom visits was as close as it got, so the string has ended.

Which I am glad about, personally.

Whatever one thinks of a president, having one killed in office is something I hope is gone for good and no future generation will ever have to experience.
