I expect that eve was created from a rib so she didn't have so far to go to start blowing adam.

And there you have it.

The true identity of that serpent, "the snake" revealed.

We now know it was Adam himself whom uttered those cataclysmic words;

"Eat me".

mnottertail -> RE: IF we came from monkeys... (11/22/2010 7:53:43 AM)

and was also the first one who said to woman, let me stick my finger in your bellybutton.

El Shaddai

chiaThePet -> RE: IF we came from monkeys... (11/22/2010 8:04:03 AM)

Thus the words which got them banished from the garden;

"I don't do anal".

mnottertail -> RE: IF we came from monkeys... (11/22/2010 8:06:49 AM)

And not having his pleasure of sending the snake into the outhouse plumbing as he was wont to do, Nimrod could only fantasize about it, and in doing so, spilt his seed upon the ground.

chiaThePet -> RE: IF we came from monkeys... (11/22/2010 8:23:33 AM)

Thus the immortal words;

"I swear Semiramis, it is but the snot of a camel".

The rib was the second account of how women were created in Genesis...
Anyway, I personally find the concept of god as an entity limiting in and of itself. The Abrahamic God was created in man's image not the other way around, and as for the issue of female, the tribes that became the Jewish tribes originally also worshipped a goddess, statuettes of her have been found but I can't recall her name.

Buddhists don't necessarily recognize there being a god but rather focus on the human experience, Hinduism has both a multitude of dieties as well as recognizing just one god, that is an interesting concept to wrap your mind around. Are they actual entities or are they constructs or are they concepts which have become actual through centuries of belief?

Personally, I believe god, as you will is everything, everything is god, everything, material, thought, observation is all consciousness...a satguru that I once knew made the statement that God is everything, when God created the universe he didn't go to Home Depot, he created everything from himself. But I don't believe god as such is an entity, rather dieties are just a fragment of the whole...I do believe that god is literally everything, that the universe is part of the whole.

Shrug, as for humans...I think we are the only animals on this planet that have forgotten that we are just animals, part of the whole as well...but like children, we have a need to go out of our way to feel special.

Oh...and Santa is definitely magic, that is easy.

why are babies conceived as females until they either get the extra gene or they don't.
Because they don't, they are male or female at the moment of conception.

This is what really irritates me, the certainty there is a God.

On these endless religious threads those that question belief are told they are intolerant.

Yet we have statements such as yours declaring that there is no question of the existence of a God.

You just want to define God in your own terms.

Isn't that what most religions are based on, defining a God in how best suits them?

~FR

All babies arent conceived as female...

Details of genital development
At conception, gender is determined by chromosome characteristics -

The genetic sex of a child is established at conception based on the 23rd pair of chromosomes it inherits. The mother's egg contains an X chromosome, and the father's sperm will contain either an X or Y chromosome. It is the male (or rather the male's sperm) that dictates whether the baby will be a boy or a girl.

During the first few weeks of fetus development, your baby's internal and external genital structures are the same, regardless of whether you are ultimately going to have a boy or a girl.

They have two sets of organs: one that can develop into the female sex organs (Mullerian duct) and one that can develop into the male sex organs (Wolffian ducts).

The gonads will become ovaries or testicles, the phallus will become a clitoris or a penis, and the genital folds will become labia or scrotum. Which sex organs develop depends on the presence of the male hormone testosterone (in humans, the default sex is female).

The SRY gene, on the short arm of the Y chromosome, initiates male sexual differentiation. The SRY influences the undifferentiated gonad to form a testes, which produces the hormonal milieu that results in male sexual differentiation. Testosterone stimulates the Wolffian structures (epididymis, vas deferens, and seminal vesicles), and anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) suppresses the development of the Mullerian structures (fallopian tubes, uterus, and upper vagina)

There is more, if anyone cares to read. With pictures and everything.

Laughing...religion or even spiritual beief causes such Eire.

What did I say? I said that I didn't believe that there was an entity known as god, rather that everything, the universe, the laws of physics, the interactions between people, the interactions between submolecular particles for that matter was all part of one form of consciousness. That was all.

I didn't say I was certain there was a god but rather that everything was part of a whole, an entire system which is interconnected, not seperated in a Descartian manner, not working smoothly by laws in a Newtonian universe but rather one entirity.

Intolerant of those that question, on the contrary, only through questioning, seeking, trying to learn more, to understand is there any form of growth. I just want to define god by my own terms? Well, I am not using the term as an entity, someone out there seperate, I am using it meaning an entirity, a reality which is changing, conscious, creating, mallable... as for using my own terms, well yes, I wasn't going to appropriate your terms to use.

Now religions, that is an entire 'nother conversation...

Because many people forget that g*d is a mystery and knows everything.  If science contradicts g*d it just might be that we are not all ready to know and understand that all that g*d knows.

I know what you mean.

What's always puzzled me is how S*nta gets those reindeer to fly and how he manages to get his fat ass down all those chimneys.

But I guess we are just not ready to know and understand that.

That one is easy.

Santa is magical!  [:)]

And apparently so is God.

I like monkeys...

God is transgendered, perhaps. So he made man, his favoured gender, in his image, complete with transition, and left woman in her original, undeveloped state.

Nonsense. God made Satan first, then Satan made women.

hahahahaha

damn I meant to say shame on you!

Spiritual beliefs cause people to migrate to Ireland?

Or were you trying to saying ire and just found an extra E somewhere?

Which is a misspelled way of saying the same thing.  One entity.

You just defined God as entity in your last paragraph.

AlwaysLisa -> RE: IF we came from monkeys... (11/22/2010 11:38:39 AM)

Thanks tazzy for the links and info.   Another misconception from my youth is shattered.    They must have told us this in school, (Good Ol St. Martha's), because I remember questioning it...without any answers given.   Of course..that was when dinasours walked the earth, (before gray hair), so who knows.

I did some reading and it appears we are non gender, or non gender specific until the introduction of hormones, THATS why men have nipples!   An enlightening morning :)

Actually, I think that he (g*d) is supposed to be all-powerful.  Then again, it also depends on which mythos you are refering to.

Cryptic seems to have a Michael Valentine Smith thing going on.  If you grok me.

I'll stick with Santa.

He's much more believable.
