This was pretty much going to be my answer along with a reference back to snopes to look up just how many "mis-speaks" have been attributed to Presidents and Vice Presidents. I think that they have huge sections on Bush, Quayle, and Reagan.

I do note that knucklehead has no thoughts about the rest of the topic. Which is kind of funny as it is the web and e-mail especially which perpetuate these things.

Re the OP: History does not give cause for optimism that the internet will retain its egalitarian nature. Every other electronic communications medium -- telegraphy, telephony, radio, television -- has ultimately come to be mostly (not entirely but mostly) under the control of a few large enterprises.

When companies get proprietary I run. I don't use Facebook or iTunes. It never hurts to take a contrarian approach.
