Anyone else have as much fun with this shit and I do???[:D]

Good.  I will set you up for a chat with my neighbor.  Christians will be taken home before the great tribulation- she says....

Good, then i can have a long discussion about how her next life will go on this planet and how the path to hell is paved with good intentions. [:D]

Tazz,

I mean this in the sincerest way.   Do you want to live thru Revelations?

Are you afraid of the end times?    The Great Tribulation?

We are getting closer to WHATEVER is coming.....

Stirring up the masses and spreading lies is a bigger sin than going through a scanner, pa. you need to remember that if you ever hope to stand before the pearly gates. Myself, i expect to go through this life a few more times before finally coming to my own conclusive end.

Did I disrespect  LAT?

Anyone ??

After a whole thread about how people feel about scanners at airports and you demanding everyone agree with your pov, you have the audacity to ask for a concensus on the matter of disrespecting a woman by calling her chicken little because she didnt agree with you???

you are becoming a bigger joke than usual, pa.

LadyPact -> RE: Don't bloody well touch me!!! (11/24/2010 11:52:47 AM)

The chicken little bit was the funniest part of the whole thread.

From what I'm reading, the whole 'organization' of the protest drive was being done on the net.  The organizers are hoping that folks who purchased a ticket for travel for the busiest day of the year at airports were going to delay themselves and everyone else by refusing scans.  In My mind, that doesn't make logical sense to plunk out their travel money far in advance, to get on board with an idea that can potentially mess up those same travel plans for any flight times or connecting flights that they might have.  The plan was doomed to fail because it has the potential of wasting money, time, and holiday plans.

The gas chamber thing, completely unwarranted.

I agree with you. It was a very dumb plan.

Better by far would be for a Civil Rights group to back someone to try to fly, for that person to then refuse both "Scan" and "Pat-Down Plus", and then say "no thanks, I'm leaving" - this would attract a possible fine of $10,000 under the current laws (a crazy state of affairs, since if security had probable cause to suspect they actually were carrying anything untoward they could be arrested - as it stands you can lose $10,000 just for saying "arseholes to this, I'm taking the train!").

But the person could then, in court, claim unconstitutional search (Scan is strip-search by sight, and Pat-Down Plus could be refused on grounds of intimate search, plus no probable cause), which would (eventually) force a judgement on the legality of the current situation.

This issue won't be decided over a holiday weekend. It'll be decided when, and only when, someone (probably someone fairly high profile) decides to make an issue of things, and fronts up the readies to challenge it in court.

It's strange that none of the rich teabaggers, right leaning pundits or b list celebrities who've been boasting of belonging to secessionist and/or terrorist organisations have done that, really.
It'd probably get Chuck Norris the most press he's had for a good decade, for a start...

Exactly! People are missing the comedy potential! In the holiday season too! [;)]

When I was much younger (about 20 years ago) I used to fly out of London City Airport (a tiny airport - seriously, you could carpet it for $15.99) quite a bit, to Amsterdam, on business in the week, but for herbal fun at the weekends. Because I look like a gun-running mercenary*, I used to get searched. A lot. No, a really, really lot. Mostly by one really miserable little turd of a man. If I politely questioned why he never pulled me up in a suit and tie, but always did when travelling in street clothing, he'd become abusive, and (on 2 occasions) forced me to strip to my underpants and "patted me down" in my shreddies in order to "make sure you're not carrying anything". When I pointed out there wasn't much point in spending money on flights & hotels to stay the weekend somewhere where dope was legal, only in order to get nicked on the way into the UK, he became even more abusive and threatened me with a cavity search.

The next time I went back I'd had a very spicy Indonesian meal for lunch, and when intestinal strangeness occurred on the flight home an evil plan struck me. With the self-control of a Zen master, I held all within, and sure enough chummy pulled me into a search room and told me to drop my pants. I waited until he was in range and gave him both barrels of my Indonesian Thundergun. Talk about waft of death! I’m surprised the paint didn't peel off the walls.

He choked, insulted me (with his hand over his nose, to be fair, which did lessen the impact of his words somewhat), then told me to fuck off home.

He never stopped me again after that, but instead just scowled at me whenever I went through. Nice guy. I miss him.

*this is the only conclusion I could think of for why they always did me

There's a nice story about Grant Morrison shitting himself on a plane from India to Thailand because he'd eaten his stash rather than tossing it and thought he was just farting. he claims to never have been waved through customs so fast in his life...

Nice one [:D]

Spike Milligan once told a fantastic story about a mate who'd returned from the tropics with a nasty case of dysentery, and was thus prone to soiling himself with the liquid lumps. He went to the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in London, got the diagnosis and tablets, and was on his way home, via the train station, when the worst occurred.

Thinking fast, he leapt into a gent's outfitters and, pushing to the front of the queue (people didn't say anything due to the smell), threw a couple of spare pairs of trousers at the clerk and demanded they be boxed (so he could bung his soiled ones in there - this was before the days of plastic bags and brown paper vs. the runs doesn't stand a chance). He paid hurriedly, grabbed one of the boxes on the counter, which he took to be his, and legged it, crimson with embarrassment.

Safe but smelly on the train, he went to the toilet to change, waiting until the train got going as they don't like you using the bogs in the station, but when he removed his own trousers they were in a hell of a whiff, so he lobbed them straight out of the window, cleaned himself up as best he could, and opened the box ...

... to find it contained a bowler hat.

He waited in the toilet, ignoring all knocks on the door, until he reached his stop, then legged it past astonished travellers, with only a bowler hat protecting his meat & 2 veg. But no-one, and I mean no-one, used to get past a British Rail ticket inspection barrier without stopping and showing a ticket. He was grabbed by the Inspector, and ended up showing considerably more.

The magistrate gave him a £5 fine*, and told him to never do it again.

*this shows you how long ago it was.
