My daughter and I cooked, with a wonderful contribution from my co-Matriarch. The kitchen is my sanctuary, and I'll be -damned- if I'll waste $30,000 of tuition (from my training in French cuisine/patisserie). I passed along some of my meatless and grainless favorites to my daughter this year, as she's just starting to develop an interest in feeding herself from something besides a microwave, fast-food restaurant, or vending machine. Now that she's running a household herself, she's developed a curiousity about real food that is... heartening. We're had apricot-rum glazed Cornish hen, grainless nut and fruit dressing (for the grain-free and vegetarian among us), my classic Sausage-Apple-Chestnut dressing (also grain-free, but definitely NOT vegetarian *wink*) , whipped sweet potatoes, tossed salad, home-made jellied cranberry sauce, and cranberry-orange-kirschvasser relish (this is my companion's special holiday recipe, so she prepared that. Nobody else gets the proportions right!). We'll also had pecan-macadamia crusted pumpkin pie, and butterbeer to drink (yes, we've got a recipe for the Harry Potter fall favorite!) I, however, did NOT do the dishes! Dame Calla
