This is a fun little thread that we've had on the boards previously at this time of year.  Since Thanksgiving is almost upon us, it's always interesting to hear who does the cooking among our female Dominants and male submissives.  (Of course, anyone can join in.)

Do you handle the holiday preparations yourself?  Does your sub do the work in the kitchen?  Shared responsibility?  Something else, such as spending it with extended family or visiting a gathering of kinky folks?

This year is totally different for us.  Since My son was on a plane to Germany this past weekend, we had an early Thanksgiving before he left, which meant that I cooked and MP made stuffing.  We're having a smaller dinner tomorrow, which is basically leftovers that I had frozen from last week.  (This will be less clean up than the bigger version we already had.)  Saturday, we head out to visit the kinky folks for a get together.

What are your plans and who is doing the work?

Because my daughter is moving this next weekend, and the taxk of trying to balance extended family gatherings, etc......we had the immediate family (kids and grands) for an early Tday on the 13th. I did all the cooking but mostly because I love love LOVE to cook. Everything turned out just fabulously and it was a wonderful day. Even got my son (still in Peru) on Skype. My grandsons, his sons, had much fun waving his fav food ( pumpkin pie ) back and forth in front of the webcam.

Tomorrow we are going to an extended family gathering and only taking a batch of home made croissants (my specialty)  and a fruit salad (GD's specialty........mostly because I refuse to bother making it anymore).

No thanksgiving here (duh) but in terms of big dinners: I am a fucking veteran at this stuff. When I'm cooking for large numbers it's submit or GTFO. The only person I am willing to collaborate with is my Sis-IL - that's because we understand each other. Either people defer to our authoriteh and start peeling potatoes without asking too many questions, or they LEAVE.

Sometimes we let someone else set the table. But only sometimes.

I'm letting my sister do the work this year (with help from our mom). First time in a very long time that I won't be up all night cooking for tomorrow... Kinda nice, kinda miss it.

Well aren't you a Supremely Bossy Bitch...

I'll be having a modest T-Day celebration of which I'll be doing the cooking. Small bird and maybe some homemade pies to top it off. The leftovers will be feasted upon for days to come.

I've passed the holiday hosting on to the kids now. The day when I could do all the cooking that I did is now over and I cannot even taste test things, so it is best this way. lol I don't know how to cook without taste testing to get the perfect results I want. Plus, I just can't handle it all work wise, have no partner and no longer have that huge kitchen table to seat everyone at.

My daughter was going on and on about my diet and looking up recipes of things I could eat. I didn't get that she was trying to make sure I was going to have food to eat on T'day because we weren't sure I was going to be able to go. I have to watch the kids all around the day and it might be too much for me to handle. So we went shopping to look for foods I could eat yesterday and that took most the day and into the evening.

So we are all going to her husbands aunt's house this year. It is the first year she is hosting it all, so I really need to try to make it.

When I did cook, I did most of it, but did call in assistants. When I had a partner, they did morning cooking and I did all the rest. (I hate mornings.) lol One day, maybe... I will be fortunate to have a wonderful man that serves me left overs though. lol

We are having a T-Girl Turkey Day* here in Colorado with 2 Female Dominants, three of us "girls", and one Straight Male Dominant (SMD) thrown in the mix for spice!

We are having two turkeys - my Lady and I smoked one earlier this week - we brine it in Wassail spices and it is fabu...the other will be given a generous butter massage a-la Julia Child and baked!

I will be doing the cooking and all but the SMD will be coming tonight and staying over as we are all doing a Turkey Trot 5K in the morning to kick things off!

A gift, for anyone who is going to someone else's place for Thanksgiving and wants an easy dessert idea:

Peach Cobbler Dump Cake

Ingredients

2 cans (16 oz.) peaches in heavy syrup
1 box yellow cake mix
1 stick butter (1/2 cup)
Nutmeg or Cinnamon

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 375
  2. Lightly grease the bottom of a 13x9" baking dish.
    (If you unwrap the stick of butter you're going to use anyway, the buttery waxed paper that you took off works great for this!)
  3. Pour both cans of peaches (and liquid) into the pan.
    (I like to cut them into smaller pieces.)
  4. Cover with the dry cake mix, and press down firmly.
  5. Cut the butter into tiny pieces, and distribute evenly across the top.
  6. Sprinkle with Nutmeg, Cinnamon, or your favorite goes-with-peaches spice.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes. When it's done, it will be golden brown on top, and bubbly.
  8. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes before serving, so it sets up properly.

(It's really delicious with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on top.)

Yellow Cake / Pears
Devil's Food Cake / Cherry Pie Filling
Spice Cake / Fruit Cocktail
Spice Cake / Apple Pie Filling
Vanilla Cake / Blueberry Pie Filling

Use your imagination. The possibilities are delicious!

Normally I host Thanksgiving.  We are snowbirds and no one has family here.  We have about a dozen or so of our friends come to dinner out on the patio as you can't get 12 people in a motor home for dinner.  I do the turkey, dressing, gravy, and everyone else brings the rest of the goodies. 

This year is a bit different.  Gary just got out of the hospital a few days ago after 3 weeks of hell.  I was with him the whole time 200 miles from home.  The friends got together and decided to plan dinner around us.  They are bringing everything to our patio.  If it gets too windy we'll use the next door neighbor's Arizona room.  Gary will be able to go inside and nap whenever he gets tired.  I don't have to lift a finger as they will set up, provide the food, and clean up afterward.  It's great to have good friends!!  We have enough stress going on here.  I don't have to be concerned with dinner at all.

Greetings,

Up here in Canada we had Thanksgiving about a month ago. That being said, it's a similar type of meal as our American neighbors have.

My Male Dominant partner and I both cooked this year. As usual when we do anything together, there is a lot of bickering and laughter. We had a organic free-range pasture raised chicken, low-carb carrot/peppers/veggie medley stuffing, and gravy thickened with whipping cream (heavy cream). We had a couple friends over, and accidentally threw the chicken across the dining room while trying to remove it's thigh - lol. Who knew those pasture fed birds with their more active lifestyles could put up such a fight even after roasting - lol.

Over all it was a really entertaining evening. Hope all of your holidays are just as joyous ... though without the bird tossing - lol.

Everything turned out great here.  Love and I cooked a 13lb bird (forgot to remove the bag o gibblets!)  Mashed potatoes, corn, and green beans.  My brother smoked a 10lb bird, and made yams and apples.  My mom made stuffing, my dad made the gravy.  Then after we were settling our food Love made an awesome rumcake (heavy on the rum).  Went well with my egg nog and rum, lol.

Watched a couple foot ball games, then everybody made their way home.  I hope everyone else's day turned out great!

My slaveboy always does all the cooking. I don't lift a finger in the kitchen. I don't even make my own coffee or tea.

My daughter and I cooked, with a wonderful contribution from my co-Matriarch.

The kitchen is my sanctuary, and I'll be -damned- if I'll waste $30,000 of tuition (from my training in French cuisine/patisserie). I passed along some of my meatless and grainless favorites to my daughter this year, as she's just starting to develop an interest in feeding herself from something besides a microwave, fast-food restaurant, or vending machine. Now that she's running a household herself, she's developed a curiousity about real food that is... heartening.

We're had apricot-rum glazed Cornish hen, grainless nut and fruit dressing (for the grain-free and vegetarian among us), my classic Sausage-Apple-Chestnut dressing (also grain-free, but definitely NOT vegetarian *wink*) , whipped sweet potatoes, tossed salad, home-made jellied cranberry sauce, and cranberry-orange-kirschvasser relish (this is my companion's special holiday recipe, so she prepared that. Nobody else gets the proportions right!). We'll also had pecan-macadamia crusted pumpkin pie, and butterbeer to drink (yes, we've got a recipe for the Harry Potter fall favorite!)

I, however, did NOT do the dishes!

I have to comment that your menu sounds -suspiciously- paleo! If so, and if you'd like to exchange recipes, please drop me a line on the other side. We also gravitate towards locally-produced, naturally-fed (as in 'fed on pasture, with minimal grains... LOVE CocoFed birds!!!) meats, nuts, above-ground veggies (except for sweet potatoes, which I will not yield!), no refined sugar (minimal amounts of palm sweetener, maple syrup, and/or honey)... we break ground from the paleo movement, though, when it comes to dairy... I do use (and enjoy and -also- will never yield) my goat dairy... so our brunch table also included a magnificent goat brie! I have some awesome resources and would be thrilled to share and swap for more.

My family does that to me as well!  Nom nom nom.  It's so good!!!!  Nom nom nom.  I bet you wish you could have some.  Nom nom nom.

I didn't go out this year; I have a wicked cold and don't feel well, so.... I did have wonton soup with another US citizen.  That was nice.  If I'd been up to it, I'd have gone to my local burger joint.  A Thanksgiving dinner for one person is at least $60 bucks (depending on the day and the exchange rate) and can be triple and quadruple that.  Thanks, no. 

But I was very grateful for the wonton soup!

Oh! Oh! I almost forgot to mention my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE part of the whole day -- My youngest, who is in AF boot camp, got to visit a family in San Antonio for Operation HomeCooking! They were AWESOME to him -- fed him, gave him football and folks to cheer with, AND... they let him use their computer to log on to his FB and chat with me, his dad, and his sister!!!! That so TOTALLY rocked!!!
