ORIGINAL: CallaFirestormBW May I ask about the accuracy of this piece. I can speak to the accuracy from the Libertarian standpoint, but I am simply not as familiar with the Tea Party perspective from those who embrace this philosophical viewpoint rather than from pundits. I won't say that there aren't some people who have such limited viewpoints, but I don't believe they are prevalent nor are they representative of the Tea Party. I think there are individuals like this who are on the fringes in all the political parties, but I believe most Americans have a very reasonable and moderate opinion with regard to the different topics brought up... at least where there can be. Not all social problems have an easy answer and not all people are well versed in the issues. My understanding is that the common thread amongst those who identify with the Tea Party is simply a desire for smaller Federal government... a return to the constitutional idea of a Federal government whose role is clearly defined and limited to essentially national security, commerce, and foreign affairs. All other issues should be handled either individually, locally, or by the states... ideally with the majority of power resting on the individual.
