Just a simple google brings back a swath of links for all rightwing nutcase groups (like prisonplanet). If this 'Senate Bill S 510' exists, it exists as one of two things:

A) In the imaginations of conservatives, who swap back and forth, more and more tales of conspiracies and untrue crimes. That the goverment is 'out to get them' for having guns and tobacco. Insert any other wild, outlandish, or crazy claim here.

B) There actually is a Senate Bill S 510, but the exact wording and intent of the bill, is far different, then that, which gets reported on Fox News, and across conservative talk radio. And that the intent of the bill, is pretty good, rather then, ultra-evil intent.

Doing some research, I found this....

The actual bill!

According to Laugher & Liberity (a blog....your warned), the intent of the bill was to create a tracable system that keeps people honest and responible. If you grew tomatos in your garden, and sell it in a 'farmers market' atmosphere, and little sally gets sick from it, you can be held accountable for not making sure your produce is safe. I can see the 'pro' and 'con' of this bill. Its all good, until it bites me in the butt, right?

Seems this bill seems to have its roots (pun unintended) in This Testimony given to the FDA 9/29/09.

Seriously, pahunkboy, before posting something that seems wild, or insane, check on the information, and more importantly, the sources. I dont trust blogs, nor sites that have an obvious political bent. When I did the google search, I was not surprise to find most of it from 'the right wing', whom took the most conspiracy/paranoid path of destruction. Rather then explain what the bill is, and a link to a neutral location (i.e. with a dot gov tag), in neutral terms, they heavily infect it with pro-wingnut philosophies. The end result, is the reader is not given good information with which to base a reasonable answer on, but, a highly biased viewpoint. Conservatives keep doing a huge disservice to this country, as long as this attitude is allowed to persist. So yes, check the information AND the source(s) of that material.

See the Related Legislation page for other bills related to this one and a list of subject terms that have been applied to this bill. Sometimes the text of one bill or resolution is incorporated into another, and in those cases the original bill or resolution, as it would appear here, would seem to be abandoned.

Why?  I doubt that your offerings would be any less idiotic in either of those two places.  The only benefit with Twitter is your idiocy would be limited to 140 character outbursts.

I doubt you even know what's really  in the bill, especially if you believe anything that idiot was crying about in the video.

Well all I know is that we are dependent on China now for food, since walmart actually imports much of their food from there, and the government won't require meat producers to tell us what meat is cloned and what isn't. So basically, the government really doesn't care if we end up starving to death if during a famine, the Chinese feed their people first or we get some genetic mutation 10 years later thanks to cloned meat.

Anyone who supports this government is insane.

Remember the movie the Matrix??? Remember that part where Morpheus is telling Neo that there are people in the Matrix who don't want to escape. They want the illusion to continue at all costs and they will do anything to stop the people who want to end the matrix. Those are liberals. They live in a fantasy world where money is no object, and the government can do whatever they want without any consequences to freedom loving Americans.

The only bad part is that eventually all their life energy will be drained from them and they will die like cows at the processing plant. They may think that their happy little life will go on forever, but actually they are being controlled and used by the government, and eventually the illusion will end.

Actually Wal-Mart gets virtually all of its fresh food from sources in the Americas, just like all other major grocery operations. Sure some of their frozen and canned foods come from China but so does frozen and canned foods in other major grocery chains.

As to the as yet unpassed bill in question I've read the whole thing and it simply expands the record keeping requiremengts for food producers and distributors and gives the FDA enhanced capabilities to inspect and shut down violators who sell contaminated food. It does not have anything to say about people who grow food for their own consumption.

A lot of the fear would be removed if people would commit to buying locally whenever possible and visiting/knowing their local growers.
