Status: offline 		I live in lakewood, wet spot is a long and rather annoying drive to get to. i have had some replies before but most of them have been outside of what i am looking for. I prefer around my age or younger. usually I get guys twice my age which is something I have tried but i am not talented enough to get into a master head space with someone that much older.

Ok, more seriously... Respecting that you may not want to play within certain age groups, look at this realistically. Every filter narrows your pool of willing asses. You only play with certain ages - that narrows the pool. That you won't travel narrows it further. I don't know the distances in question but I know an excellent top who travels two hours to get to where the bottoms are. And they are rewarded for doing so.

As for your age, your profile says you are 28. I don't know of any group that is 30+ only. This is a shot in the dark but I'm guessing your problem is more that you've already alienated members of your community from the comment about wanting to avoid people.

Status: offline 		There's a Tacoma munch, although i've never been.  One of the Tacoma people on this site runs it.  i honestly don't know what the age range there is, i think it varies.  There are Next Gen. people at CSPC, i've met some of them, they're an alright bunch. And they have buns.
i bet some of the people down at the Airport Tavern might know.  Go and see.  The description of the clientele is slightly inaccurate, just posted it for address and that nifty box on the upper right hand side that shows other bars in the area.  Tuesday is probably the wrong day though.  Go on the weekend.

It's a total dive but it's a friendly total dive.

I don't know specifics about Lakewood, except i lived in possibly the worst apartment there in my salad days, and there's a really good comic book store, right next to a multiplex movie theater!

Status: offline 		believe it or not my parents were founding members of the spot and know quite a few people there so trying to avoid seeing anyone that they may know, also the impact play groups say they are 33+ . love my family but would be awkward to show up at the same party as your father if you know what i mean. had a great sub going for a while but he kept flaking and having things happen to where it fell apart.

Status: offline 		Perhaps he could brave the 50 minute or so drive to The Spot if he worked out a schedule to not run into family and family friends?  If they're founding members and open about it with him, i would hope there's room to bring up uncomfortable topics such as this.  Which is more annoying, not having a sub or the pain in the neck of working out keeping his family life separate from his dating life?
i wouldn't want to attend with the 'rents or the 'rents friends, either.  Just . . .ew, frankly.  Maybe public play is out for him, but initially meeting people might still be done. 
In some ways, this is interesting territory that i don't see covered on these boards very often.  What to do when BDSM is a generational practice within a family? As BDSM becomes more mainstream (like it has been--The Wet Spot exists and has a website, for example), this sort of dilemma will come up more and more often. There's a lot of avenues for etiquette and boundary discussions.
Maybe i'd write to Dan Savage and Mistress Matisse for advice.  Do they still have columns in The Stranger?

In that case why not ask your parents about groups - evidently ya'll are out to one another enough to talk about it - and plan things so that you aren't at the same events at the same time? I'm sure they'll understand where you coming from and your desire to scene.

Also, since you have a great resource at your fingertips for group-founding... why not start your own?
