Have you seen Sicko? Hillary Clinton was for single payer until she was paid to change her views. I suspect the same thing happened with Obama. The problem with the majority of both Republican and Democrat elected politicians is that they all have their price. They think campaign dollars and re-election are more important than the American people.

Moonhead -> RE: President Obama: FIGHT, don't cave on Bush tax cuts for millionaires! (12/2/2010 2:41:35 PM)

Well, that's American politics in a nutshell, isn't it?
Small wonder so many people are angry.

Perhaps because that quote has been debated to death on here.

But that's what I love so much about conservatives, no matter how many times they are proven wrong they just keep repeating the same nonsense like windup dolls.

You haven't proven shit, all you do is spew the latest HuffnPuff fluff and claim it's true.

Where as you go to great legnths to offer irrefutable proof to all of the bullshit you post?.....Too fucking funny.

Unread bills... such as?

Oh perhaps Obamacare?

Are you really that dense?

Ill try to help you out on this issue one more time. Please, do pay attention now.

There is a House and a Senate.

They both get to vote on important laws in this country.

On health care, they both had their own versions of what they wanted in that Law.

The House passed their version.

The Senate passed their version.

Following so far?

So they had to put them together.

Which is why Pelosi said no one knew what was in the final draft.

Because Congress had to agree on the final outcome.

Amazing stuff huh!

Im sure this will help you as well.

Please, do make sure you read that. It even includes the reconciliation bills passed by former Presidents.

I know, shocking, isnt it? Obama wasnt the first to use this tactic.

Now, be a good boy and make sure you brush your teeth before bed. [;)]

Which is why im all for scraping the existing code and going for a flat tax. Everyone pays in, all the way down to proverty level. Everyone pays the same amount based on all income. No tax forms, no tax write offs. You never see it, it comes directly out of any income you make, regardless of the source.

Holy unexpected agreement with unlikely sources Batman!!!
We all hate the IRS, Robin.

The Republicans should tell Obama, Pelosi and Reid exactly the same thing the latter have been telling the former for two years now..."We won. Shut up and stay out of our way. You can come along for the ride but you gotta sit in the back."

What exactly did you win?  Control of the House?

You do realize the Senate and the Presidency are still in the hands of Democrats.

What do you think the Republicans in the House are going to accomplish without the support of Democrats?

"We the people..." did indeed win control of the House. And therewith control of the Federal budget/bank account.

I think the Republicans in the House are going to put an abrupt end to Obama's "spread the wealth" and "fundamental transformation" agenda with/without the support of Democrats.

It is irresponsibly premature to accuse the conservatives (rinos, republicans, neo-cons, and nutsuckers) of fiscal responsibility now or at some future time; simultaneously, it is irresponsibly inaccurate to accuse them of fiscal responsibility in the past.

You can quote me.

I understand it, I understand that the Democrats rammed this bill through, behind locked doors, without opposition input, ignoring the will of the majority of the American people...

It's not me who lacks understanding here...Shitty legislation is still shitty legislation, no matter what party makes the back room deals.

The difference between you and I is, you seem to trust our government, and want them to take care of you. Where I see how horribly government runs things, it's too big, too bloated, and does what's best for them to remain in power.

Now make sure to swallow as you suck on the cock of your government master.

I assume then that the military, the roadways, our laws of all natures, the sidewalks, the police and fire and so on are all dismally inept and dangerous as well?

Agreed, RJ
And if they don't we'll find some new guys and maybe a certain girl or two who will.

Uhhhhh, sorry to interject some reality into this bullshit party, but since you haven't found the occasion to do this in some 225 years, and indeed have only backed and ran the opposite, where do you expect to find these folks?

Are they shit out by a bird on a stump and hatched in the sun?

The Tax Increase Prevention and Reconciliation Act of 2005 (or TIPRA, Pub.L. 109-222, 120 Stat. 345) was enacted on May 17, 2006.

This bill prevents several tax provisions from sunseting in the near future. The two most notable pieces of the bill are the extension of the reduced tax rates on capital gains and dividends and extension of the alternative minimum tax (AMT) tax reduction.

Amazingly brilliant piece of legislation... not.

quote:

Senate bill S. 1932 - The difference between the two versions is the provision regarding the length of time that Medicare would be required to pay for durable medical equipment such as wheelchairs and oxygen equipment like CPAP machines. The Senate version of the bill restricted payments to 13 months while the House version provided for 36 months, a $2 billion difference.[3] Just prior to the filing of the bill in the House, a change was required to alter these time periods, in three places the number 13 was changed to 36, by hand in the offices controlled by the Speaker.[citation needed] The change was needed to assure the requisite number of votes for passage in the Senate. This hand written drafting change gave rise to an error made by the Senate clerk later in the process.

Just a mere 2 billion.

Now, you want to talk about ramming things down people's throats? Its hardly MY fault that the republicans didnt read the bills. They allowed the talking heads to tell them what was in those bills. And they, just like you, believed everything they were told.

Oh, and btw, i always swallow. [;)] .. when Master allows. [:D]

Your politicians are any different?

Can you say Tony Blair?

In January 2008, it was confirmed that Blair would be joining investment bank JPMorgan Chase in a "senior advisory capacity" and that he would advise Zurich Financial Services on climate change. Some sources have claimed that his role at JP Morgan will pay more than $1m a year.

This additional salary will contribute to annual earnings of over £7m.

Blair also gives lectures and earns up to US$250,000 for a 90-minute speech.
Yale University announced on 7 March 2008 that Blair will teach a course on issues of faith and globalisation at the Yale Schools of Management and Divinity as a Howland distinguished fellow during the 2008–09 academic year.

Blair's links with, and receipt of an undisclosed sum from UI Energy Corporation
, a Korean company with oil interests in northern Iraq, have also been subject to media comment in the UK.

He may have a personal fortune of anything up to £60 million – the vast bulk of it earned over the three years since his retirement as Prime Minister and owns nine properties in places as diverse as London, the Bahamas and New York.

Fellow -> RE: President Obama: FIGHT, don't cave on Bush tax cuts for millionaires! (12/3/2010 11:47:43 PM)

I finally figured out where the 700 B comes from.
Here is somebody's quote I found. I hope the numbers are correct.
quote:

We are told over and over that extending the tax cuts for the rich will cost 700bn (they never say 'over ten years, of course). And they say we cant afford that. Well what will the middle class tax cuts cost? And how come we can afford that?
One article says 4 trillion over ten years for ALL the tax cuts, so that means the middle tax class tax cuts would cost 3300 billion to extend just themselves. Which I find strange given the Dems have been calling the 2001 bill tax cuts for the rich, yet it seems less than 25% went to the rich.
So, why can we afford a 3300 billion tax cut extension, but not 700bn, when we have 10,000bn deficits the next 10 years, to start with?

So the 700B is actually 10 years estimate. Why then to compare this 10 year estimate with the 9 month unemployment benefits number (28B)? It  can be only explained with propaganda intent. 10 year projection itself is a suspect of manipulation. How do we know it if we can not correctly predict economic growth for  the next quarter?

In my own opinion the current tax levels are reasonable (even for the rich) compared to other countries. The income distribution is a problem, not the taxes. Rich giving more money to the government does not necessarily benefit lower classes. We may just get  more B2 bombers and "quantitative easing" for the World banking cartel.  If to cut the government size, lock up the financial parasites, actually collect taxes (Fortune 500 companies effectively pay taxes 22% an average, hedge fund managers pay low capital gain on billion dollar incomes, tax avoidance and fraud is a big business) things would be OK. Bush's problem was not cutting the tax rates but rather not simultaneously cutting the size of the government and spending.

Smart move  would be to extend current tax status for everybody. The US economy needs serious structural reforms.  Tax increase itself solves nothing, but slightly worsens the situation.

The guy's a cop somewhere around Chicago, you can't expect him to understand science.
