GotSteel -> The Daily Show: It Gets Worse PSA (12/2/2010 9:44:10 AM)

I found this clip from The Daily Show about John McCain hilarious and had to share it.

There you go, and people called Kerry a flip-flopper?

DomKen -> RE: The Daily Show: It Gets Worse PSA (12/2/2010 10:10:25 AM)

What I don't understand, as a former supporter of McCain's, how can anyone take this buffoon seriously anymore?

He has changed position for political expediency and in this case flat out lied about what would change his opinion.

I'm confused, are you talking about Stewart?

If so, he never expressed support for McCain.

He had McCain on his show often but they rarely agreed.

The only current Active Duty military leader who has come out in favor of repealing DADT is the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. On the other hand, the current Active Duty Air Force Chief of Staff, Army Chief of Staff, Navy Chief of Staff and Marine Chief of Staff have all come out in opposition to repealing DADT. So, if McCain were POTUS today and he asked for and heeded the advice of the majority of current Active Duty military leaders he would oppose repealing DADT today just like he did before.

I think he's talking about himself. I also used to be a supporter of McCain's and am saddened by the extent to which he's sold out to the religous right.

Yeah, I read it too quickly the first time and didn't catch his meaning.

I was also a McCain supporter, but he didn't just sell out to the religious right.

This is a man who will follow whatever way the political wind is blowing.

He has contradicted himself on so many issues it makes my head spin.

The military leadership's challenge to GOP Senators

The military leadership's challenge to GOP Senators

It's important that we be 100 percent clear on what happened at this morning's Senate hearings on Don't Ask Don't Tell. Military leaders essentially pleaded with GOP Senators to support repealing DADT, arguing that the failure to do so would put the state of our military at serious risk.

might be true if the Navy and USMC had Chiefs of Staff as their highest ranked officers. They don't.

The actual senior officers in the USN, Chairman JCoS Adm. Mullen and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Roughead are in either in favor or are awaiting the outcome of the survey

It takes me a while sometimes.

I think I'm becoming senile at far too young an age.

Moonhead -> RE: The Daily Show: It Gets Worse PSA (12/2/2010 1:14:48 PM)

If his switch from the 2000 primaries to the ones the other year didn't lead anybody to write him off as a cynical lying piece of shit who'll say whatever might further his cause in the name of expediency, then they're probably too stupid to be allowed to vote in the first place. Christ's sake, people: Sorebutt wanted Leiberman as his veep nominee, but took Palin because the GOP mass mind told him to. How desperate a cunt do you have to be to accept that?

I actually feel sorry for the guy in a way.

He knew that at his age this was his last chance.

But throwing everything you stood for away to pursue an ambitious goal did not make any sense.

The only reason he was in the position to run was what he stood for.

Then he became desperate and abandoned those principles and cost himself the election.

Moonhead -> RE: The Daily Show: It Gets Worse PSA (12/2/2010 1:44:26 PM)

I don't feel any sympathy at all for Sorebutt, to be honest.
If you act like a cunt, people will treat you like a cunt. Your sympathy for the two faced piece of shit probably makes you a better man than me, but my own feeling is that this problem with his being seen as a two faced lying twat was self inflicted, so he can live with the consequences of his lack of integrity.

You may be right, but tell me what this Sorebutt expression means.

He has a sore backside, apparently. Supposedly back in '08 Harley Davidson sent him a free bike and he had to send it back because he couldn't sit down on the saddle with the injuries he'd suffered as a POW.
(Which puzzled me: I'd have thought they might have stopped subjecting him to enhanced interrogation when he agreed to sign a confession and make propaganda broadcasts. Maybe somebody was bored?)

I don't remember him getting the motorcycle but I was at Sturgis in '08 and remember the hypocrite's speech.

Obama Goes After McCain Over Harley Motorcycles
Referencing McCain's recent visit to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, the ad goes right after McCain's supposed points of strength. From the text of the radio ad:
MCCAIN: "Not long ago a couple hundred thousand Berliners made a lot of noise for my opponent. I'll take the roar of 50,000 Harleys any day."
NARRATOR: But when it comes to his record, American-made motorcycles like Harleys don't matter to John McCain. Back in Washington, McCain opposed a requirement that the government buy American-made motorcycles. He said all 'Buy American' provisions were, quote, 'disgraceful.'"

Moonhead -> RE: The Daily Show: It Gets Worse PSA (12/2/2010 2:36:00 PM)

I remember there being quite a fuss about that. It's probably connected that a lot of people were very offended that he didn't just take the custom job Harley Davison sent him and stick it in one of his garages or something, even if he wasn't going to use it.

The thing is that chain of command is the end all and be all in the military....and last time I checked all of tose guys you cited as being against repeal.....report to,and answer to the guy in favor of repeal(Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff...not to mention the Secretary of Defence).
But bottom line....can anyone tell me how these opinion polls and questionaires broke dowm when Truman was desegragating the armed forces?
And as a total aside...allow me to take this opportunity to thank all the gods that anyone might believe in that that particular doddering old fool(and his criminally negligent personal choice for VP) are not sitting in office.

He became desperate and abandoned his principels when he agreed to campaign for Bush/Cheney/Rove in 2004 after their despicable behavior in South Carolina in 2000.....Any true "maverick"...any former warrior with an intact backbone could never have swallowed the shit he did while grinning next to Bush.
