If there is an ounce of shame or self-respect among the Republicans, this should bring it out-

"Effective at the beginning of October, Arizona stopped financing certain transplant operations under the states version of Medicaid. Many doctors say the decision amounts to a death sentence for some low-income patients, who have little chance of survival without transplants and lack the hundreds of thousands of dollars needed to pay for them."

Apparently there is plenty of money for wealthy people to get tax cuts, billions more for bankers, but not a penny to save the life of sick people.

Many of those poor people are hispanic. They may be citizens, but still hispanic.

That makes it ok.

Rex   you are from Cali so I understand your disdane.   you don't live here and probably never will.   However, you also don't understand our fiscal situation here.   We are wasting money on defending our laws in court.   The counties aren't getting the funding that they used to get, and they are having to give more to the state because revenue isn't there to fund all the mandated items (both fed and state).  I don't know if I necessarily agree with the cuts that are being made, but the legislature is trying to be fiscally prudent.   to me  that means that they are doing the job we hired them to do.

In other words it's ok to bankrupt your state in the short term to save a few, and let many more die in the long term when you're completely out of money for any treatment....gotcha.

And apparantly there is plenty of money for Foreign Aid instead of taking care of our own people in this country.

Where would you draw the line between who gets saved and who dies?

And the propensity toward the gilb is why any real discussion will never happen. I understand his point--and the faulty either/or premise on which he built it.

Rex's point, of course, is the irony of the distortion when Palin was singing this tune.

Seems the key has changed.

This wont be the end of it either. As states face more and more budget shortages, this will continue to happen. The poor will always be the target And with the ranks of the poor swelling from previously middle income america, its going to get way worse before any hopes of it improving.

The states are in trouble for poor planning, period. The few that prudently set aside funds to honor their obligations are fine.

The rest is an excuse--with tighter times the sins came to light.

True enough, Master Tim. Im not offering an excuse for any of the states. They are just as guilty as the federal government. But, the reality is, the poor will suffer.

Nobody is saved, everyone dies.Be it from lack of medical care to some moron driving drunk.

The argument is stupid to begin with, nobody survives life, and life isn't fair.

Yea, Arizona is sure having a lot of money problems. I wonder if the folks in California are still trying to get everyone to boycott the state? I wonder how much that actually cost them?

My buddy's Dad had a replacement hip at 86. This is not a welfare ho, this is all private. It did not come out of the public trough.

However, what of the people who paid premiums to the same company ?

Insurance is voluntary communism.

Why don't you good people of AZ stop trying to pass laws which are contrary to the Constitution and the laws of the United States? You'd save a LOT of money, and you'd be seen as non-racist, whic would bring in a lot of tourist dollars.

Why don't you go and see how much money is brought into AZ by tourists?
