Ah, he also announces publicly when he reports people.  I'm beginning to think that perhaps he wants/needs attention, even if it is negative.

Er, I failed at this before, but how does one block and ignore a poster beyond closing one's eyes when coming up on a post that they have made ?

If you look under their avatar pic on forum you'll see a "Hide" option. Click that and they're gone, although I have noticed it tends to reset itself from time to time.

I think we all know why this thread has been started.

Well, I didn't and I didn't want to know. This altercation now appears to spread from those other threads to this thread, like leaked oil spreads on water, polluting everything in sight. I could have done without knowing, thank you.

I dont partake in name calling or being bitchy at all, ever
ok so thats a lie, but I do know I have walked away from the computer  and deleted more messages than I have posted. Mostly because I like this forum more than any other I have been to and I dont think my inability to laugh at mind numbingly stupid or ugly  is a good enough reason to be moderated
I have been ignored by one person(well that I know of) which has irritated me as he is the one who constantly posts uninformed blatantly wrong information/crap, but Ive learned to pass over his dumabassery.
so all in all Im just lil miss perfection!!!!

Now maybe I will get this right now, and hopefully go back to the way it was on here.

He does this repeatedly (including strong swear words) but has reported others for using sometimes milder words like “idiot” as he did to DCWoody in this old thread I hit upon by accident http://www.collarchat.com/m_3443100/mpage_1/tm.htm – if name calling is to be treated seriously by mods it should not be used as a weapon to silence opposition, especially over real legitimate debate.

You mean here - http://www.collarchat.com/m_3443100/mpage_1/tm.htm# - post 14? Right where it says this?

Hertz you are an idiot.

So, by your reckoning, it's perfectly OK for me to call you a retard? Is that what you are saying? Somehow, and it might well be me, I'm not convinced by this. I even tried it a few times and called someone a dribbler, but you know what? It just doesn't seem right..

I have explained why I do that. I feel quite uncomfortable reporting people behind their backs, and if what I have perceived as an offensive comment occurs in the public realm, then I feel my response too, should be in the public realm. In addition, although it has been my habit to block people for limited periods of time in this forum, I currently have 7 or 8 people on what will be permanent mail blocks - I have no interest in getting into private conversation with abusive people. It seems unreasonable that I should use this facility to communicate my intentions with them whilst they do not get the option to reply. It is always the same small group of people.

Is that an unreasonable way of doing things, do you think?

As for the negative attention thing, I guess I am as guilty as you in this regard. That is, not at all guilty.

How on earth is it behind their backs? If they've posted something TOS they probably know it or will find out pretty quickly when the mods send them a love note.

Announcing it is begging for attention and like the little kid going "I'm going to tell Mommy!". Do you tell your coworkers if you are going to report them to the supervisor?

Yes, I think it is rude and childish to act as the police for the forum.  That is what the moderators are charged with doing.  And announcing the blocking/reporting makes you look like the kid in school who was always disrupting the teacher for attention.

There are a few posters here that I am not very fond of. I am sure there are a few posters here who are not very fond of me.

I would like to announce that I have never blocked anyone, ever.

I have also never reported anyone ever.

I have also never hidden anyone, ever.

I like to think I am capable of reading very silly things and then getting on with my life.

That's a far opinion - I have no problem with your belief in that. But it isn't a belief I share. If I ever have need to report a co-worker to my supervisor, of course I will tell them. It's not much fun for them having to treat all their colleagues with distrust because they don't know who told tales. That seems very unfair, to me.

I adore name calling.  My favorite is being called a dirty whore, while my hair is twisted in his fingers and he is dragging my head towards his rock hard dick, saying suck this you dirty whore.  Filthy cunt works for me also.

I've never blocked anyone either.

I only block people when X is the next letter in the alphabetical songs game.

Distrust? If they hadn't done anything wrong, there wouldn't be an issue. Same here.

By announcing it, you are making the situation worse instead of letting the mods handle it.

Again, that's your perspective and you are welcome to it. But I am not policing the forum - that, as you say, is the role of the Mods. Rather, to keep to your analogy, I am a member of the public making a complaint about an offence. If people didn't 'break the law' (analogy), then I wouldn't feel the need to complain.

Well, I have posts of 64 persons hidden.

Anyone not hidden by me: well done. In any case most likely you do not use illegible font - though there are some people that post in such atrociously colored and/or bold fonts that I occasionally wonder whether to put them on Hide too.

Yet - amazingly - many if not most can go the police station without announcing that they did so to everyone in the area with a bullhorn. Or stick a permanent sign on their yard that they did so - since the post where you announce your reporting will never go away unless a mod yanks the thread.
