I lost about a pound a day when I started playing high school football. Of course, this was two-a-day practices, from mid-july to the end of august, wearing roughly 20-25 lbs of pads and helmet. I was also under the supervision of 6 coaches and a nurse. I made a resolution this year to lose 50 lbs, roughly a pound a week. Ive already managed to accomplish this, going from 275 to 225 today when I weighed in. Mind you, this has been through a fairly brutal training program that has consisted of weightlifting and cardio 6 days a week, 2 days on upper body, 2 days on lower, and 2 on cardio. This has also been done with a high protien, low carb diet. It is possible, but please, PLEASE be smart, dont overwork yourself (muscle tears hurt like hell and take a long time to heal), and have a medical professional supervise you during it.
