Maybe Sarah Palin can't lock up people in jail,because she know's for sure she would never be elected to anything but a dogcatcher,maybe.However,when she was Governor,she was against improving the right's of gay people,who happen to live right in her own state.People like her may not want to lock anyone up(or admit it in public).Still,people like her are against any form of right's for any gay people.They are against repealing don't ask.don't tell.They are agaist gay marriage or civil union's.They are probaly againist gay adoption.I know all the good old boy's GOP here in Flordia were upset when the Flordia state court's had finally legalized gay adoption's.Flordia had a ban on gay adoption for the last 30 year's.It was just finally repealed not too long ago.One of only 3 state's to still have a law like that.The other 2 state's are Mississippi and Utah,what a surprise.Come see how Flordia Republican's act.It's the Southern Bapist Holly Roller's who wish to run this state.Sarah Palin would fit in real nice down here.

Who is the friend? Either she doesnt say, to protect the identity of the friend, or simply making it up. Given Mrs. Palin's track recording of 'making shit up' and 'very loose with the facts', she's leaning more towards 'bullshit' then 'facts' in my book.

Sarah Palin's religious views, are not entirely main-stream Christian, when it comes to the topic of 'homosexuality'. Her view point, believes they are abomination to God, and their 'Gay Agenda' is influencing the nation's youth to be more accepting of sinful behavior/practices. What journalists (yes, the bane of Sarah Palin) have uncovered, point to her borderline hatred of gays. She is against DADT being removed. Her view point on the topic, if fully made public, would be 'lock 'em up' rather then 'treat them as any other member of society'.

To me, being a BDSMer (and specifically NOT just a kinkster) is like being gay in that neither gays nor BDSMers choose.  I'm fond of saying to religious right folks that I "choose" to be gay, "When did you choose to be straight?"  In the same way I didn't "choose" to be gay, I know that y'all didn't "choose" to be BDSMers.

That all said and "Stipulated, Your Honor," I'd like to ask the OP's question in a different way.... How does one reconcile one's nature with one's nurture?  And in that question is the answer.  One's nature is fixed and we are talking about one and only one aspect of that nature.  Meanwhile one's nurture is fluid and (as many have noted above) very complex.

So, the OP's question is sorta, kinda, of the form "When did you stop hitting your wife."  The original question makes assumptions that are simply not true.

A much more "fair" question would ask how does one reconcile too seemingly opposing choices?  For example: How does one reconcile a religious up-bringing with the liberal view of social concerns?  Answer: Ask Jessie Jackson and others of that ilk.  So, would you like to see a religious LEFT President?  Again, Jessie Jackson is a complex individual just as we all are.

Unfortunately, in this day-n-age of sound bites and knee-jerk reactions to those sound bites, we have a situation that rarely (if ever) allows for a reasoned and reasonable discourse on the problems and proprosed solutions of our fast-paced modern society.

Oops!  Getting too far off thread....

Sexual behaviors / orientations do NOT seem to be a matter of choice.  Proof?  Those natures cut across every demographic one can imagine.  Political party and religious denomination (or not) do NOT cut across every demographic, thus they ARE a matter of choice.

So, BDSMers by birth come here and when "provoked" LOL reveal and defend their choices (which are based on complex reasoning, education, economic status, etc.)  The OP question is:  How do BDSMers (by birth) reconcile their kink with their political choices?  And the answer is: In many ways. At least one "resolution" for each member here.
