He needs to add a flying ball speed controller to keep the speed constant. Other than that, a well thought out application.

Stanley Steamer? Set the record for the fastest mile for automobiles in 1906 and the record wasn't broken until five years later... the internal combustion engine developed into a cheaper technology and was continued to be backed from then. Though the story of diesel is interesting as well...

Anyway, cool idea...and definitely blends the two genres well.

What killed the Stanley Steamer was the half hour to an hour (depending on temperature outside) warmup before you could drive it.
