Seriously; nobody gives a fuck what you do.

Oh and don't lie; we both know full well you still read it all. "Personalities" as fucked-up as yours can't help themselves.

Aneirin -> RE: London Protests Turn Violent With Parliament Under Siege Protesters are now fighting with polic (12/17/2010 7:13:53 AM)

I am at college, and I am a student, albeit a mature one, I have had my college email box bombarded with calls to join the protests and have recently been asked personally, to which I refused. When asked why I was unwilling to fight, I replied, because it serves no purpose except for the media  to use it to do the government's will, there is not enough interest and support from other similarly affected sectors of society, which is alienating the students who will be seen to be the usual suspects of various political entities that will be ridiculed by the press. Besides, I hate the police and that is a good enough reason to keep clear of them, ( unless I can stand away with my sling and a goodly supply of rotten eggs), as thugs exist everywhere, inciters and all sorts.

Further to that, there is no fucking point, the government as always will do as it pleases, the bill has gone through end of story. The reply to that was myself being a mature student am effectively brainwashed into accepting the status quo. Which is very true, the older we get, and in some cases, the more successful in business we get, the less inclined we become towards taking action for the things that affect our lives.

But since coming out of the armed forces with an education, which was actually instrumental in myself quitting, I have vowed never to fight for a country again, only myself and mine, the people that matter to me if threatened. The help on the transition to civvy street was non existant and it caused me problems for a good few years, it is like being tipped out of a box where one had lived most of their lives, I guess similar to those who have spent long tiomes in prison.

I haven't got anything to add, other than to say I quite enjoyed reading that post, so thanks.

(genuinely, not sarcastically, BTW - it's an interesting post).

Like a few others on here, I believe authority is already a done deal before any election, for whatever party, whatever name whoever gets in does not upset the status quo so much that it cannot be brought back into line with the status quo, usually at the expense of the plebian, as is happening now with the cuts. The wealthy took too much in one go and caused an imbalance, the books will be balanced and the peasants will be balancing them, so the wealthy can continue to take.

I agree with this assessment.   I too would not bother to go to a protest.

Anyway, I believe free education, or affordable education is an experiment conducted by the controllers, see if they could get more productivity out of us, perhaps it has failed, so they are reigning in on the further and higher education in anyone except the elite. The state education is still required to train young people to be slaves. Which is a thinking further enforced by the fact that school teaches nothing of real use, not things like how to fill out benefit forms and such, because although not the reality, it is expected everyone will seek work as soon as is possible, the benefit forms are cunningly constructed to dissuade most applicants.

Moonhead -> RE: London Protests Turn Violent With Parliament Under Siege Protesters are now fighting with polic (12/17/2010 9:15:29 AM)

Schooling is basically geared towards getting its victims used to the idea of employment, and always have been: what other purpose is served by getting kids used to get up in the morning and going off to spend all day with day with people they dislike, doing things that don't benefit them any? Under current circumstances, that now seems a bit over optimistic.

Some people are self educated.  I know a hand full that read anything and everything- and are smarter then a good number of degreed folk.

Yeah, agree on the early get up and time keeping with the young, but I and a few other mature students have what is called the artist personality, we breeze in when we want, late mostly, and breeze out when we want, we rarely comply with procedure and do things our own way. Now whether that is an artist thing seeing as we are studying art, an age thing or what, but it seems we can't be told what to do, we are more rebellious in a lot of ways than the young students who are supposed to be rebellious, but they are seen to be very goody goody and they comply with all instructions. As a result, they get the high marks and seem keen to compete against others, where we think a pass will do and we must enjoy doing it, or there is no point.

Fine. Let them do whatever they want. As an educator, part of me thinks we ought to let kids leave school whenever they want. The schools provide a sort of baby sitting service for lazy parents anyway. The problem would be even more crime by even more bored kids who think the world owes them a living. We already have that with the consituency of the democrat party in the usa. of course, these kids are budding little demos with their hands out.

Aneirin -> RE: London Protests Turn Violent With Parliament Under Siege Protesters are now fighting with polic (12/17/2010 9:43:21 AM)

School as far as I can understand is all about banging square pegs into round holes, as no one as far as I know takes the trouble to discern what a youngling's natural talent is first, but simply steers them into things they are not going to excel at because they have no natural skill in that area. I believe if we want a better society, we should be identifying the natural skills, talents perhaps in the young and there developing on that, not adopting the one size fits all scenario for most.
