Charles6682 -> Don't worry,it is still warm in FLORDIA!!!! (12/9/2010 2:17:37 PM)

It did get alittle cold today,I had to turn my A/C on low.Don't worry though,it will be right back up in the 70's tomorrow,which is the normal tempature this time of year here.

I know all about cold and snow,I lived directly on the southeastern tip of Lake Ontario(which is one of the Greak Lake's".Trust me,I know about freezing cold weather,gray cloud's covering the sunlight for week's at a time and pile's of snow.That term,Lake Effect Snow,I know what that mean's very well.This area IS the Snow Belt of the Great Lake's.150-200 inche's of snow,is the NORMAL amount of snowfall every year.Imagine it's already -10 degree's(F) and the wind from the Lake is blowing hard wind against you.

So see,that's why I like to be in Florida for the winter.Yearlong sunlight,mostly warm weather in the winter(except for a few day's) and world class beaches.So remember,when you are freezing in the winter cold,don't worry,I will be nice and warm in the sunshine.!HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

[:D]  Not sure what part of Florida you are located in, but here in North Central  <Marion/Alachua/Putnam Co>  it has been downright fridgid!  With the windchill it was 16* yesterday morning.......... Can't wait for the weekend... promises of 70* weather and lots of sun are what our weather folks are predicting!  Enjoy!

I live in St.Petersburg,FL,which is close to Tampa.St.Petersburg is in the west-central part of Flordia,which is very close to the Gulf of Mexico.No oil in the water's around here.The oil spill didn't even come close to this area.Thank goodness.

I thought you were moving back to New York so you could be with like minded folks in a 'blue' state ?

Charles6682 -> RE: Don't worry,it is still warm in FLORDIA!!!! (12/9/2010 5:35:30 PM)

Well,I still love NY.I certainly don't mind being up there in the summer time.The winter up there is very severe.I am still glad that N.Y. state voted the way they did.However,did you know that New York state put more Republican in the house of rep's. than any other state?Upstate NY is a moderate area.NYC is where the far left liberal's live.I guess I am another yankee that like's mild winter's in the winter time.There's alot of us down here in Flordia.

Renee, I'm north of you in J'ville, and it's a whopping 47 degrees here according to my yahoo......I didn't know that FL had winter when I moved here!

Charles, I'm guessing you grew up in the Syracuse area?  I grew up in Sodus, right ON lake Ontario.....survived the winters of '77 and '78....waded to school in chest deep drifts....winter was fun when we had snowmobiles and sleds and snow days, but getting older meant I didn't want to be in it anymore!  I left the Chicago area and the snow belts in 2004, moved to AZ, and I'm now in FL, and if the closest I get to snow is watching it on The Weather Channel, that's just fine and dandy w/me!

My son is moving to the Norwich area of NY next year, but he's been making trips out to the area for the past several months.  He ran into the snow while he was there last weekend.....I warned him about it, but he didn't believe that it could come up like it does.  SUUUUURRRRPRISE!!!!!  Now he knows.....they are already talking about trading for a 4 wheel drive vehicle.

And Stevie, if'n you get tired of winter, I have an extra bedroom....and cookies!  C'mon down!  [:)]

However, you bring any snow with you, you're a dead man!  That crap stays there!

Florida would be nice in the winter, but suck in the summer, too hot.  Plus with no changing seasons, isn't it a bit boring there?  I would miss spring/fall for sure, fall is my fav.

Not only are you warm, but you have the most fucked-up apostrophe usage I’ve ever seen in anyone over the age of 5 years old or an IQ over 12.

You must die [;)]

It's been in the 40's in the daytime here in Myrtle Beach and high 20's at night with one morning in the teens.
At least you can go out for a walk here.
I grew up in the Boston, Mass area and we'd get some hellacious snowstorms, "Nor'Easters" they'd call them. And it was always windy which made the cold worse. I think Milford, Mass just outside Boston is the windiest area in the country.
Then, you go north to New Hampshire and there's even more snow and it's even colder!

Charles6682 -> RE: Don't worry,it is still warm in FLORDIA!!!! (12/9/2010 9:26:10 PM)

Soul2share,I was living in Oswego,NY,which is about 40 mile's north of Syracuse right on Lake Ontario.It's about 35 mile's east of Sodus.I grew up in Rochester,and I have lived in Sodus and really the southern tip of Lake Ontario.

Flordia does have some very hot,humid summer's,I agree.That's why A/C were invented.Just like people in the cold go inside for the heat,people down here go indoor's in the summer to cool down.At least down here,I can still go for a reasonable walk in the summer time.Unlike up north,where I need to put on 4-5 pair's of clothing just to take a walk to the store!!

As for the change of season's,I like that too.Fall,summer and spring,that it.I don't mind some snow.Sure,the snow is pretty to a degree.But when is enough,ENOUGH!!!4-6 feet of snow,everyday for 5 month's out of the year get old real fast!Plus,I hate the lack of sunlight more than anything.Sitting around for week's at a time,only seeing gray cloud's,really does get old.I like the sunshine.Maybe I suffer from that Seasonal Affective Disorder.I don't know,I just know I like to see some life out there.

We live in Maine on the coast, it's cold as hell right now, but damn if you can't take the winters, you don't deserve the summers[;)] This past summer was one of the hottest on record, weeks of sunny above high 80's and lot's of 90's.

My man also owns a place in Punta Gorda at Burnt Store Marina ( a paradise for boating and golf ) but it's so hot I don't really care for it, and while he could leave here in November and stay til May, I am good with a month in Florida.

Charles6682 -> RE: Don't worry,it is still warm in FLORDIA!!!! (12/9/2010 10:29:47 PM)

My Great Uncle has it different.He was born in Miami,Flordia and now he is retiring in Maine,go figure!I've been through Maine before.It was in the Autumn season.Very,very beautiful in Maine in the Fall time.I loved it,the change of the color on the leave's were even better than a Autumn in upstate NY.I probaly should go to Maine next summer.

People in Flordia have to deal with the extreme hot humid summer's,so don't they get to deserve a nice winter as well then?!?!

Charles6682 -> RE: Don't worry,it is still warm in FLORDIA!!!! (12/9/2010 11:14:41 PM)

St.Petersburg is usually warmer than other part's of Florida.St.Pete sit's right on a penisula that is surrounded by the Tampa Bay water's and the Gulf of Mexico water's.While the more inland part's of Flordia did get 20's and 30's degree wearther the other night,St.Pete didn't getting any lower than in the 40's.It very rarely get's below 32 degree's around here,but it can happen though.

Charles6682 -> RE: Don't worry,it is still warm in FLORDIA!!!! (12/10/2010 2:49:02 AM)

I am sure I will return to upstate NY when the time is right.Rochester in particular.

soul2share -> RE: Don't worry,it is still warm in FLORDIA!!!! (12/10/2010 8:58:18 AM)

ahhhh, yes, lovely Oswego, NY.......snow starts to fly in October and ends in oh, say....JUNE!!!!!!  Yes, June......maybe not in recent years, but back when winter was winter, there were many years I did trick ot treating in winter clothing.   A couple of years ago, Buffalo got a storm on Halloween......

Today, it's gray and cold.....48 degrees.  I'm thawing hamburger for chili, it's perfect weather for it!  I have a loaf of french bread for dipping in it.....nomnomnom!

And we do have sort of a season change here....there are maple and oak trees around, and they do change colors...not as vividly as they do up north, but in North Florida, there is a difference in the seasons.  But as the point was made, summers here aren't any different than winters up there....folks hibernate in the cool interior instead of the warm one.  It is nice tho to be able to go out in December in nothing more than a long sleeved shirt!  I could do without the humidity, coming from Phoenix where it was bone dry to here, where it's like walking into a wet blanket......ugh!
