Surely, Violet, you don't expect me to go through a full reply, on a highly partisan subject, without tossing a little fun into the mix, do you? Besides, small 's' socialist, is a nice, convenient word to describe a person who looks to government first, to address societies ills.

She obviously only wanted posts that said she was right.

Now you see, Wilbur, I don't get that impression. Her perspectives and perceptions are clear, and clearly different from my own, but I also see an intelligent person willing to have a shot at exchanging ideas, and expanding her comprehension of opposing views.

Try it sometime.

Her response to me was dismissive and didnt address any of the facts. Bot exactly a willing exchange of ideas.

Not "just" a dig, Violet. It's also an easy way to illustrate the great difference between his social/political/economic worldview, and my own. There's no reason you can't combine a poke with a point, right?

I came here because I know that I'm going to be challenged, that was the whole point. It has never not happened, so why would I expect everyone to agree with me now? I'm a firm believer in the saying, "The person who doesn't understand his opponent's argument, doesn't fully understand his own"  I like to hear other opinions.

The reason I tend to right you off willbe is because I feel like you'd rather have an argument than a debate.  The hatefulness of your words is distracting, and It's hard to take any point that you make seriously when it's deep-fried in vitriol.

So if she'd replied simply by barking out "bullshit!", as you seem to do in about 90% of your posts, you'd have considered that a more substantive response?

Obama completely caved to their demands, but still he gets no love from the right.
Clearly, you're not wrong, except for this statement.   I watch CNBC (you know, "First in Business Worldwide") nearly all of the time, and I've never seen Joe Kernen from "Squawk Box," (M-F, 6 -9 a.m. ET), happy...   Ever!   Except on the morning they announced that Obama had given in to Republican hostage taking.   Not only did Obama do that, but he verbally spanked anyone who thought he should have grown a pair, before dealing with the minority party again, on an important legislation.

Michelle Carruso Cabrera has been just about orgasmic, on the show she helped nearly make disappear, Power Lunch, since that day.   The rich people on that channel, love Obama so much, I'd be surprised if the man hadn't gotten some tongue in the last few days.

So, missy, you are wrong on the love thing.   Obama has conquerered the wealthy, and greedy.   He will be "paid" when he leaves office.    M

I think the Bush tax cut's should have been capped at 1 million dollar's.I know in some state's,like the Northeast, the cost of living is very high.I don't think $250,000 is really rich. But anything beyond a million dollar's is not going to help anyone except billionaire's and millionaire's.Even though,up until the $1 million dollar mark, even billionaire's would have been help with that tax cut.O well,I don't fault Obama.Look,Obama need's to be more of a moderate. He need's to become the Bill Clinton after his party lost congress back in 1994.He need's to move toward's the center.

If people would stop hating Obama because he's black, muslim, communist or whatever else, you would have known that Obama his view's weren't exactly liberal.Republican's have never given Obama the benefit of the doubt.

AS for diversity in the GOP,I have admit, people have color have been elected on the GOP ticket. The governor's of Louisana,South Carolina and New Mexico have proved that the Republican's are sloly embracing diversity.Plus don't forget,John Boener, the new House Speaker, has a tan,so that make's him a man of color in the GOP!!!

That's exactly not to like, Violet. In fact, concern that his lack of life experience in stressful positions of leadership might have just such an effect on him is a big reason why I just couldn't vote for the guy.

And that is precisely why you voted for Bush then, because of his great advantage in that very regard.

I don't like the idea of someone who is easily pushed around in that office one bit.

Damn right! Obama just needs to take lessons from GW and see how he stood up to Rumsfeldt and Wolfowitz and Cheyney and Rove and not start stupid wars just because they told him to!

OK, well, not the best example, but other than that ...

Nor do I want someone who thinks in terms of domestic "enemies," and starts lashing out by abusing the powers of his office.

Amen! Next thing you know, he's going to keep on with this "domestic enemies" thing and abuse the powers of his office by creating a whole new cabinet position for purpose of keeping track of domestic enemies, and being the commie that he obviously is, he'd probably come up with some cute name for it like "Homeland Security" or something.

Oh wait, ...

Wow, Edwy. What an amazingly ignorant post. You couldn't be more wrong about how I voted in 2000, Bush II wanted to take out Saddam Hussein long before he found a way to justify it, and Nixon is the far better example on the domestic enemies reference.

Shouldn't you be watching cartoons, instead of wasting bandwidth your neighbors could be using for porn?

At least Nixon's enemies list could be read on one page and there was actual thought given as to who should be on it. He didn't create a whole new cabinet level department that had as foundation that all American citizens are born guilty and must subject themselves to increasingly further intrusions upon privacy, and now even the required subjection of one's privates for inspection, as the former burden of proof of guilt to the accuser has now been contorted into burden of proof of innocence on every citizen as an ongoing and perpetual requirement.

There is no dignity in the world anymore, and certainly nothing of resemblance to common sense. That's on Bush and Obama both, though things were well set in place for that even before they came on board.

But yeah, for that and many other reasons I miss the old days too.

Maureen Dean was SO freakin' hot!

Your perceptions are amusing.

1. Steele was a darling to the GOP before anyone ever heard of Obama, but he has lost his luster. there are some money problems... I agree with your conclusion, not your reasons.

2. There is a growing Conservative pushback to the the so-called tax cut deal. We can do better in January, and I think we should kill this one. But I think it passes despite the pro forma leftist protests.

3. Yes.

4. Bad forever. Zero helpful input on the economy. Will try to thwart defunding/repealing 0bama0Care. Weakness in the face of terrorism/ apology as foreign policy. The incoming tsunami of disastrous regulations from his czars and appointees. Disastrous energy policies/ Gulf shutdown. Ad nauseum. Bad forever and ever. Plus, the shapeshifting thing.

I have two good things to say about 0bama0. Drones.
I forgot the other one

"When I say he caved, why aren't Republicans saying, "No, he's listening to reason, it's just that our points are stronger and he's doing the right thing?" I haven't heard one Republican make that argument. Not ONE. "

I don't think I've heard 0bama0 say it either. Has he said "Raising taxes on the rich in a recession is a terrible idea"?
Geithner id, but he's gone

We haven't said it because he hasn't changed his mind. When he becomes a republican we'll let you know.

What he has done is accept a little political reality, and maybe start moving a little to the right for 2012.

Conservatives fight over who is the most conservative.
Liberals fight to hide who is the most liberal.
Sanders is far from the only socialist in DC. He's just the only one honest enough to admit it.

I'd been good with $500,000 or even $1000000; even Bohener said he would agree to that at one point.

Agree again.   What has been extremely disturbing, is Obama's insistence on making himself likable to the minority who didn't vote for him, while chastising the moderates and liberals who voted for him.
