Seriously though.

Whats wrong with her given name?

Agreed. I admot to not getting the whole "slave name" thing.

For me, it's really important to be -myself- in conjunction with being property. That is, that I aknowledge that my owned self isn't someone different from my...hrm. Lemme try again. That my owned self is the same self as all the rest of me. That is, that I don't have some seperate identity that I am when I belong to him. Rather, that all of me belongs to him, even the mundane bits.

I havea bunch of pet names--woogie, monkey, bunny, pet, slut, bitch and all that, but at the base I'm just me. Even when I'm playing, and "most" his, I'm still the same person I am at work.

Out of pure curiosity, to the OP and other posters who have alternate names, why is another name important to you? Do you go by that name all the time? Thta is, did your owner rename you for the world? That actually makes a lot of sense to me, but I'm not quite able to get my brain around having a seperate name for "on" times.

Again, though, just my brain.

Sorry, but all I could think of when I read that is....McSlut [:D]

Daddysredhead -> RE: naming of slave (5/3/2006 8:45:20 AM)

Arpig, you crack me up.[:D]

However, SSBBW does, indeed, stand for super-sized BBW.  I learned this from a fellow sub who used it in her profile and I asked her what it meant, so she told me.  I asked her why not just bbw?  What made her super-sized?  She laughed and told me that about 350 pounds made her super-sized!  (lol)

I'm glad my fellow posters didn't get to name me, although I don't have a slave name, per se, but Master calls me by a nick-name that is very mushy that many people call me.  Goodness, benji!  You are the clever little pup, aren't you?  hee, hee, hee...  [;)]

LadyHugs -> RE: naming of slave (5/3/2006 8:45:33 AM)

Dear MasterPeace1618, Ladies and Gentlemen;

Speaking from an old fashioned lifestyle system of doing things, names other than "birth given" were to aid in being discreet.  It also helped to reference somebody when you had 12 Janes and 12 Johns and such.  Thus, my early salad days in the lifestyle I was named for my personality--not my genitals. Nobody in those days were so named, as to be embarrassed in any venue--public vanilla and or the scene.

When I started the scene in the late 70s; way before computers, internet, cell phones and such; I was observed by many Masters of the day and being affectionate and loving, even before Hershey Hugs were invented -- they all came up with the name of Hugs.

The idea was to be able to track me wherever I was without confusion.  It also had dual meanings.  As a slave "Have you given service" and as Master/Mistress Have you got service,"  to which I thought was rather clever.  I also was in a system that did not enjoy humiliation rather, they enjoyed humility from slave up to the most senior Master/Mistress.

Being "Hugs" is a part of my history.  From being an affectionate slave to being an affectionate Master/Mistress.  It does not mean that I was not strong but, the power of "hugs" is profound in of itself.

Respectfully submitted,
Lady Hugs
Note: Lady is more than a title--it is a state of behavior

babyblues -> RE: naming of slave (5/3/2006 8:47:34 AM)

thanks redhead, i was trying to think of what it could possibly mean....i think i'll keep my guesses to myself, lol....although, super-sized bbw is pretty amusing in and of itself....
i wonder who makes up these things....i see other initials on here sometimes and i have no clue what they mean....

bia -> RE: naming of slave (5/3/2006 9:02:49 AM)

I know she has already been named, though I tend to agree with CrappyDom and WickedUncle.

A name is something a Master gives His slave, it usually has meaning to the girl. It usually shows His thought and consideration, how He gave up some of His time to think of something to denote His thoughts or feelings for her. (the key being HIS thoughts or feelings).

It's sort of a gift, one that of course, He can take away.

And of course, the Master can show her that she really is just there for His purposes and give her a name that isn't wrought with meaning. -shrugs-

But at least, HE is giving her that name.

You're welcome, babyblues...  I'm glad I sometimes know the answers.  (but if you ask my kids, they think I know nothing at times, lol...)

I had named her, after I had believed I had gotten to know her and who she was...it was a word which held many symbolic meanings spiritually, culturally and historically and not only represented who she was but what I believed she was becoming...it had been given before and rang true...it is how I knew her and how she was introduced, mentioned by, etc...it not only showed ownership, as it was not intended as a 'pet' name but rather her name...I thought definition...

DifferentSubGirl -> RE: naming of slave (5/6/2006 3:44:15 AM)

My parents named me and so I have a legal name. Which does absolutely nothing for my personality, career, or social life. I was given a name in the way of other cultures that more appropriately speaks to who I am, and fits me a hell of a lot better than my legal name. Besides which, it's almost completely unique, which makes it good for my career too. However, because I *am* known by this name at work I can't use it a whole lot in a kinky context, particularly online. It does go back to discretion. And I would love it if I got a special name in addition that my Sir calls me. The last Sir I had called me 'pet' and it was very special, in a hearts and flowers sort of way. I like knowing that a special name has romantic connotations for my dominant partner.
