Yes you are right, I think Christianity was always going to struggle as soon as they made being proud to be Christian a sin. The British people don't like religious leaders because it is all too convenient, which we realise, for those leaders to defer their judgement to a higher being. It's rather convenient and we don't like that style, however in the US they seem to be completely opposite to that for the most part. So when the previous poster went on about how many non religious PM's there have been I found it quite amusing because being religious would probably count against them here. Our ancient history is rife with leaders making choices which they say were inspired by a higher calling.

We have had at least one Muslim Representative, many black Reps, and one black President. I repeat my question. How many Muslims have been elected PM? Atheists?? Blacks??? (As opposed to : "MP")

You are coming up against the age old question of constitutional reform. i.e. the vast majority of the minorities live within inner city areas and are represented by a tiny handful of representatives. To have a chance at a Muslim PM you'd have to have white famers in middle England represented locally by Muslim MP's, not likely. In short you'd have to reduce local representation to gain national representation for ethnic minorities, not an easy numbers game.

It wouldn't be fair either way, someone would always feel their local MP wasn't representative of the background they are from. It's not a perfect world what's new?

We haven't yet had a black or Muslim PM but your history is very short when it comes to electing a black President.... watch this space. What on earth has atheism got to do with any of this? I would of thought that most of our ex PM's were atheists. Most of us aren't big or impressed on religion here but if someone wants to have a faith, that's entirely their private business, including our PM.

Fairy tales are metaphors. Synthesis works, often, for the survivors, not necessarily the majorities. Have you reconciled yourself to dhimmitude in Eurabia?
