Status: offline 		i like holiday shopping, as long as i have the money. What i hate is clothes shopping for myself, but that's another story.

In years that i don't have much money i sort of ad lib. i give people "recycled" presents- cookbooks, dishes, knives, kitchen stuff. Nice stuff that i have on hand but haven't used, or have barely used and still have the original packaging for. There are years where i just bake stuff, and make that my present. Then, the next year when i have more money to spend, i'll sort of compensate for it, getting people nicer things. i feel bad sometimes when i can't give nice presents, but it all works out, in the end.

The same thing happens with the presents i receive. Some years are just harder than others, for people. Plus, nobody's really keeping track, anyway- what i got them, how much money i spent. i know i can't remember what everyone got me for Christmas last year. Why should anyone else remember?

The best present i ever got was a scrapbook of photos. Probably didn't cost much at all. It was the emotional content that made it so valuble.

But, yes, i like Christmas shopping. i've also been known to start playing carols in October. i make cookies. i walk down Christmas tree lane. i'm a sucker for that shit.

Status: offline 		I do not. Like. To. Shop. I never really do. I haven't been in a store since before Thanksgiving except for groceries. I do everything online. Now lots of merchants give free shipping this time of year and there are a ton of sales and coupon codes and such. Online works out great. Lots of places like Kohl's and Macy's will let you return anything you want at the store too instead of sending it back through the mail so that works out well.

A site I like very much is slickdeals.net. Lots of sales and you can use the search feature. For instance, if I am ordering from Kohl's, I'll run Kohl's through slickdeals search feature and see if any percent off codes come up or free shipping. I've saved a lot of money that way and it comes to my door so I don't have to shop...yay!

I do like the season, I admit that. I like listening to carols and I'm a sucker for the Christmas specials on TV, the Grinch, Charlie Brown, Rudolf, Frosty...all of them. Watching It's a Wonderful Life is a tradition with us. It's on TV right now...lol

And every morning when they make coffee they can think about me.

Status: offline 		I love to present shop, hell I love shopping of most an kind, and it makes it so much easier that I only shop for 5 people in my life. My dad's the hardest one to shop for sometimes, because he's so picky, he doesn't want anything typical, just about everything I thought up this year he either didn't want, didn't need, or couldn't use.

I too love shopping online, I bought all of my partners presents birthday and Christmas, 3 months early. And I am having one present custom made just for him, it's gonna be so special, I just hope the lady does a good a job on it as she's done in describing and creating  the item.

Status: offline 		sunshine, my dad likes magazines, one year I got him a special subscription to the magazine he liked, and my dad's anual present to my mom, for at least one of the gift giving times, mothers day anniversary, birthday, exct ect is a subscription to her favorite australian home decor and craft magazine.

Status: offline 		The wife and I made it easy this year, by getting a big thing we both wanted, and calling that Christmas to each other. We've done a couple runs together to a department store and the booze warehouse, and I drove out today, to my favorite emporium of oddities, for really weird stocking stuffer items, and a couple oddball gifts. I could be done, but I'd still like to find some very practical gift for my father.

Get him an assortment of a favorite condiment.  Hot sauce, pickles, olives. . . whatever.  But it in a pretty box or basket.  Viola!  Instant gift.

Towels.  I have found that towels go over well. 

Flannel shirts work well also. 

New gloves and hat?

I did the digital frames bit for this season. some good buys on them at www.geeks.com

Status: offline 		I absolutely hate Christmas shopping so I do the majority of mine online. Most people in my life are pretty easy to shop for so it usually doesn't take me long. I pay attention throughout the year of what they want or need so I don't have to wrack my brain over it.

Usually my daughter is the easiest to shop for but this year she's the most difficult. She's on her own this year and has everything she wants either because I bought things for her as a child for when she was older and she was on  her own or she has bought the things she needs herself. Everytime I ask her what she wants she can't think of anything. I was proud of her though the last time I asked..."give to a charity for children or children". I think that was more a gift to me than to her at that moment. :)

Now my mom....yeah, I'm buying her a fruit basket. My sisters who live near her keep saying they have no clue what to get her either so yeah...fruit basket or some other kind of food basket.

Master is always the easiest. He drops hints all year long lol so his is the first gift I buy.

Serve him right?  I was serious.  A selection of something that a person enjoys is a nice gift.  Why do you think they make all those boxed sets of stuff at WalMart and Target.

The Holiday Season brings many wonderful memories and traditions, which I am accustomed to sharing with my beloved family, friends, neighbors and colleagues.

The concept of shopping brings forth a time to reflect on what gift would bring a special moment for the one who is the recipient. I especially enjoy being able to shop for those I care about and love. It grants me an opportunity to demonstrate my words in a way that brings substance to abstract emotions.

When I shop for my grandchildren the joy I feel is tremendously cherished. When they open their gifts and the twinkle in their eyes shines about as they are exhilarated with love and happiness. It is in those moments that I am without words to express the fullness of joy felt.

I choose to focus on the expression of giving to those I care for and love and in doing so the physical tiredness that can result in the hectic mall shopping and jaunting to specialty gift shops to locate those uniquely created items/gifts seems to melt away when the beauty and joy that will be exchanged in giving to those I love and care for comes to thought.

Thank you for this thread, even though I am somewhat delayed with contributing my entry.
