Libs amaze me.
There is this assumption that their socialist schemes will be applauded by those hurt by them.
0bama0Care promises doctors three things: increased supervision/regulation/interference, increased legal exposure, and reduced remuneration.
Libs look at that and say: "Oh, no. They'll stay".
I disagree. They are intelligent enough, and well enough situated, to make as much money with less stress and shorter hours (docs work loooooong hours); and their skills are increasingly in demand overseas.
They seem to disagree also

There's already a shortage.
Deny there is any possibility of severe unintended consequences.
Assume. And deny.

Please stop that silliness. There is no shortage. It is supply and demand created by the AMA. If meds schools were open to train students that actually passed the MCAT and had the academic background to back it up then there would be as many doctors as we would need. Even more. No matter the area. It is a fallacy borne of the herd mentality that believes the rancher that they really are boarding the semi-truck to go to a new grazing land.....lol

Louve00 -> RE: Mass exodus of Physicians? (12/14/2010 5:50:20 AM)

Tazzy, your links provide unbiased information that is telling from years back.  Too bad not everyone can grasp the meaning of it all.  Ahh...ignorance is bliss.  If only we could all live in a fantasy land. [&:]

**Edited to add....wait...I didn't mean that lol.  I'm not for that kind of fantasy!! [8D]

"It is supply and demand created by the AMA. If meds schools were open to train students that actually passed the MCAT and had the academic background to back it up then there would be as many doctors as we would need. Even more."

I agree completely that it is government and AMA interference that has created the shortage.
0bama0Care, should it somehow survive, will drastically worsen that shortage.

DomYngBlk -> RE: Mass exodus of Physicians? (12/14/2010 9:40:58 AM)

Point is. The amount is independent of government.

The Health Care Law wont change that fact, nor will getting rid of it change the fact that more Drs, who are baby boomers, are getting set to retire and there is not enough physicians in school to replace them.

The GOP should be addressing that!

truckinslave -> RE: Mass exodus of Physicians? (12/14/2010 10:29:44 AM)

" The amount is independent of government"

the amount of nothing is independent of government, which has in this case essentially enacted the AMA competition-destroying agenda into law.

My health care is now dependent on the competitive nature of Physicians?

truckinslave -> RE: Mass exodus of Physicians? (12/14/2010 10:37:35 AM)

"The GOP should be addressing that!"

LOL tg.
Aren't you one of those who yammer for bipartisanship?
Is there some reason Dims shouldn't address it?

truckinslave -> RE: Mass exodus of Physicians? (12/14/2010 10:43:02 AM)

We were discussing the fact that the AMA/government keep the supply of doctors artificially low.
There is more demand than they allow supply.
Which has nothing to do with the competitive nature of doctors, or the lack of same.

mnottertail -> RE: Mass exodus of Physicians? (12/14/2010 10:51:47 AM)

Nope, the asswipe shitbreathing neocons should have addressed it rather than impeding our nation.

truckinslave -> RE: Mass exodus of Physicians? (12/14/2010 10:56:13 AM)

You just lamented the "blind left/right paradigm" (quoted from memory, so it could be a paraphrase).

Toooooooooooo funny.
You can't make this shit up.

mnottertail -> RE: Mass exodus of Physicians? (12/14/2010 10:58:29 AM)

You can and do make shit up constantly.   Why is this any different?

truckinslave -> RE: Mass exodus of Physicians? (12/14/2010 11:07:06 AM)

That was a parliamentary trick on both sides and you damned well know it.

Address the House?

Its not the Dems who are screaming the lies about the mass exodus.

And many who voted for the 1997 restrictions are still in office. Hypocritical much? They know exactly why there isnt enough Drs and are using it as a terror platform to try and bust up what they, and their insurance company buddies, dont want.

It would appear that you feel that socialist governments have a lower level of health care than the u.s.a.
It would only cost you a couple of keystrokes on google to find out how ignorant that position really is.
The real question is why you have not done so yet...are you really that happy being so ignorant?

Only problem is you've got it wrong. It is the AMA that solely keeps the amount of physicians low

truckinslave -> RE: Mass exodus of Physicians? (12/14/2010 4:08:38 PM)

As tg posted previously, Congress capped residencies over a decade ago.

There are new med schools opening- see the Slimes article (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/15/education/15medschools.html) but it's unclear how much that is going to help given the Congresssional interference with residencies.

Hillwilliam -> RE: Mass exodus of Physicians? (12/14/2010 7:05:27 PM)

As long as there is a waiting list of people trying to get into a field, there will be very little net effect of Dr's leaving. I mean, seriously, WTF are they gonna do if they leave medicine? Get a CDL and become truckers? And, if they do leave, there's 10 waiting in line to take their place.

Hippiekinkster -> RE: Mass exodus of Physicians? (12/14/2010 7:11:56 PM)

Because it's the Refucks who are in power now?

That's absolutely ridiculous. Where do you think they're going to go? Every other country in the world has some form or other of this "socialist medicine" you keep crying about, so where do you think these doctors are going to go to make more money than they make here?

Do you even think these things through before you post them, or do you just launch yourself headfirst at the keyboard as soon as you make them up?
