The "official" rules say 6 months, but generally, based on what I've read and seen here, it seems to be the preference that any thread that sits dormant (no posts) for three months is considered, for all intents and purposes, pretty much 'done.' I've accidentally responded to/resurrected a few dead threads, and it isn't usually looked on too favorably.

And since you're new...figured you may not know all these etiquette things.
