It's hard for me to take seriously someone who compares a wall meant to keep people political prisoners with one meant to maintain some weakened concept of sovereignty/nationality. I didn't respond to him for a reason... there's no reasoning with someone whose understanding of the world is that deeply flawed.

Rule; "Hey, I know what I'll do, compare it to the Berlin wall! That's kinda close!"
"If you paint an apple orange..."
"I just had a stroke of genious, if someone disagrees with us we'll just call them "Nazis!"

Ken Stated before in this post regarding the berlin wall and the US border

and again

Sooo those of you looking to say  RML is comparing it to the berlin wall should maybe read before they post.I believe Ken is quite proud of his arrogant ignorance.

Lucy   Go back and read the posts.   I made a comparason of a concept vs real life (once) didn't ever say the berlin wall was good only that it was fairly effective.   Get it right please

That's definitely your type of genius Popeye, because everyone knows the Nazis built the Berlin Wall.

If I remember my USCOB training, the wall was put up to stop the free flow of German Citizens between the occupied sectors.   Don't know about keeping the 3 sectors peoples out of the Russian sector.   Never hear that.   Did hear to keep those in the Russian sector out of the other 3 tho

Flordia is talking about passing a law that is simliar to Arizona. There is a big difference though.See,Flordia get's alot of tourist from Canada and Europe,so Flordia want's to make an exception for those people. Some how, people who "look" Canadian or European would not have to deal with this new "Arizona" style law.It would most basically apply to anyone who is spanish.Wow,now that is racial profiling if I ever heard of it.

Except in miami, they'll probably stop anglos.

Lucylastic -> RE: Republicans & Immigration (12/29/2010 2:15:50 PM)

Ive spent way more of my time on you than intended, you have said nothing else that convinces me I should spend anymore time. That you dont accept when you are wrong is enough to dismiss you further

And what's wrong with simply ending all immigration and for a good long time?

Eliminating marriage-based and employment based green cards would set the US back globally. Stalin once tried "Socialism in one Country" behind the Iron Curtain and the results were not pretty.

How about having a Congress that passes legislation with a simple majority and a Presidential OK. Is that too much to ask, or do we want Senate minorities to have a disproportionate amount of power?

Its not disproportionate, its a critical part of checks and balances.

Wrong on both points. It would have taken unanimity of Republican Senators,

It only takes 41 Senators to block US legislation, and that number constitutes a minority. The Senate is already anti-democratic as is, but its super anti-democratic when 41 Senators can roadblock the other 59 AND the US House of Representatives too.

Rule   You said the Berlin Wall was built by the Nazi   I just agreed with you saying a lot of those young people were in the Nazi Youth.

No, that's not what I said.

Realizing that some people do not understand sarcasm very well I even threw in the [8|] rolling-my-eyes smiley.

Yet you still failed to catch on.

I tell you what Ken, let's all go back and read together.

Close your eyes, hold my hand and we'll travel back through time.

To long-forgotten events (at least by you) nearly eleven hours in the past.

There's no reasoning with someone whose understanding of the world is that deeply flawed.

Ever heard the story about wrestling with a pig in the mud? Eventually one understands how much fun the pig is having.

I'd seriously rather go to a nursing home and argue with a dementia patient.

But not a minority of Republicans, as you claimed. And as far as it being "un-democratic", so what, we are a representative republic, not a democracy.

"Eliminating marriage-based and employment based green cards would set the US back globally. Stalin once tried "Socialism in one Country" behind the Iron Curtain and the results were not pretty"

Is there a name for this kind of disengenuous, disjointed argument?

First, state as fact a completely unsupported, not to say, unproven, supposition...
Then, state a fact essentially unrelated to anything that came before it...

Remarkable, really.

In the Tazzonomy of fallacies there is no single name for this compounding of logical errors.

The Berlin Wall!
Rule, when you go to the country the mountains or the woods do you take a deep breath extend your arms outward and say, "Ah! God's country!"

Which might apply if you were actually making any sort of argument using reasoning.

But you have posted nothing of any substance on this thread.

The only thing you have done is spout lame, tiresome cliches as if you were saying something profound and original.

CB, none of that makes any sense. How exactly wiould the U.S. be set back globally by stopping immigration?
We have what, 30-40 million unemployed in the U.S. now.
And, we don't "compete" with foreign countries and never have. We're giving foreign aid to more than 30 foreign countries now!
How is that "competing?"
I'd like to see some competition for once! End all that foreign aid and send all those countries back to the stone age!

Popeye, when you take a deep breath do you hold it in for an extended period of time and does smoke come out when you exhale?

You really need to tone down on that stuff.  You just end up making less sense than usual.

Besides, it's all those illegal immigrants smuggling that in to feed your habit.
