Consider too that the Brits are inherently obedient to the Crown.

You seem more fixated with the Crown than any of the Brits on here.

Whoa! Royal wedding may be broadcast in 3D - TODAY People - The ....a.. Rupert Murdoch's BSkyB wants to add an extra dimension to the April 29 wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton — an event that could ...

And yet......You knew before I did.

Will someone insure the royals ears are taped down for this, its far too ghastly to envisage in 3-d.

That's the good wishes from this side of the pond.

No, but I will attempt to ensure it ;)

<thinks>

Actually, they're big enough to do some major structural damage, so your point is a fair one :)

The Brits set their clocks to Big Ben.

Where as the Americans use satellite hook ups vis-a-vi computers and cell phones.

Which, in turn, are set to Big Ben.

Close-  but I think they have more to do with Nuclear time.  A precise measurement.

Miniscule compared to money wasted by our elected MPs and officials old chap.

I have yet to hear of an alternative that will cost less, or close to the same.

An alternative to the Royal Family?

How about not the Royal Family? I.e. nothing. Pension all the spongers off, then flog off or make public properties their homes, which we built and paid for. That'd work for me.

Republics seem to work ok for the US and Australia ... why can’t we have one?

We are all beholden to those bejeweled heads and behemothic ears, as our resident legal scholars have pointed out repeatedly,  you brits since at least Agincourt and us yanks over here in the US even longer yet.

So, lets not rot the cabbage, lads.

too many sinces leading to a deflection of cynosure (the spongy ears, not the spongy if bejeweled heads)

The CBI says the extra bank holiday for whichever of the princes is going to marry Kate Middleclass will only cost our economy six billion pounds, and it's reckoned that one billion will be recouped by profits from tourism.  I think you're being very stingy here, RF.

It doesn't drive me nuts.

It's just not correct ;)

But I do actually use "Behemoth" in speech when I can*, and "Behemothic" sounds even better ... sadly, only wiktionary and a couple of mickey-mouse online dictionaries support it, and it's not in any of my dictionaries, but I'm hoping it will be soon, coz it's a splendid word :)

*I'll leave it as an exercise for the reader to work out when and in what context ;)

I just say that I crack urinals off when I bang it on them to dry it off.

more picturesque for the girls I go with, and many might not have the capacity to envision leviathonic or behemothic.  although if I leviathonize it more.....

Can't we send them to Vegas? You know something like that slapper Jordan did? Quick marriage there and it would all be fine....
