yellowroses -> Strange pm I received (1/5/2011 3:12:26 PM)

I received a strange pm from someone this morning here on CM. It was from someone claiming to be a psychic. She had read my journals evidentally and said she wanted to warn me about the other woman that we are dating right now. She said that she sensed this person was not interested in me only in my husband and that I should be concerned.

At first I thought great here is another scam to watch out for. Any moment she is going to ask for money. But she never did...at least not yet. I have no intention of giving her money by the way.

I was just curious if this has this happened to anyone else?

Never had a psychic contact me by mail or pm. But if one feels the urge to tell me the winning mega lotto numbers for my area, I will gladly accept the mail.

poise -> RE: Strange pm I received (1/5/2011 3:26:23 PM)

It sounds more like someone who is tired of wallowing in their own unhappy life,
and felt the need to try and bring it into someone elses.
Many will see how happy your relationship is and do anything to destroy it,
even if they don't benefit from it in any way.
I wouldn't concern myself with her psychic abilities. [:D]

Not that specific thing, no.

But I have had morons message me with bullshit before now, and it sounds like the same thing :)

No, hasn't happened, but after looking at your profile and reading your journal, I don't think you needed a psychic to tell you that, pretty much your gut feeling anyway. I would suggest that you put her "on the spot" you know have a meeting the 3 of you and your hubby says he has to leave, see how she reacts, possibly also ask her directly if she is OK with you, sometimes what people don't say is more telling than what they say...

I'm not poly, so I wouldn't know all that much about the dynamics, but if your gut feeling tells you something is wrong, it's worth listening to it, with or without a psychic...

yellowroses -> RE: Strange pm I received (1/5/2011 4:22:51 PM)

@ LadyConstanze-Yes I agree with you about the journal entries. It doesn't take a psychic to know how I am feeling. I just thought it strange that she would send me a message saying that she was a psychic and that she wanted to warn me and so on.

I am still on the fence about this whole poly situation. Frankly I don't think it is something that the other woman wants. She comes from more of a swinger background so we may just have a poly relationship rather then a closed poly triad. My husband has yet to see this yet.

@everyone else-Thank you for your responses!

kalikshama -> RE: Strange pm I received (1/5/2011 4:43:12 PM)

I am poly and after reading your journals my overall impression is, "oh dear." I feel it's intrusive to repost from someone's journal, other wise I would quote your purple post from yesterday. This seems to be a recipe for disaster. The majority of your posts indicate that "m" is not sister/wife material for you. Is a sister/wife dynamic truly what you want? It sounds like swinging would be easier for you emotionally.

If it were me, I would start over, with the focus being on a woman YOU can relate to, since your husband seems to have no problem creating a second wife dynamic.

I'm also noting that there seems to be lots of talk, but perhaps no communication, as you seem to be spinning your wheels. I wish I had some advice for you here.

Best of luck,

KK

That there's no such thing as a psychic, but even charlatans can hit upon the truth by careful observation? :)

Note I'm not querying the situation, coz I haven't read the profile/journals, nor do I wish to. But if someone wrote to you, claiming to be “psychic”, would not your first reaction be to think “nutter, best block em now”?

Or maybe there is no PM, and it’s a subtle way to voice a misgiving.

littlewonder -> RE: Strange pm I received (1/5/2011 4:49:12 PM)

she used the psychic line because she probably thought that if she told you that as just another woman you would bite back at her for telling you what is obvious in your profile.

I think you're right, but isn't that odd? I mean, someone uses intelligence and comprehension skills to discern what's going on, yet feels they have to label their conclusions "psychic" in order to be taken seriously? (!)

yellowroses -> RE: Strange pm I received (1/5/2011 5:03:19 PM)

It did seem odd to me. I know that my journals are there for all of CM to read and I am good with that. It lets me vent and try to work things out or help others perhaps. I have received messages from others that have made suggestions to try and help or simply say, "I feel your pain" but to use the psychic angle took me off guard.

I must say that she has been very nice in her emails to me.

I won't derail my own thread and go into the whole poly situation too much. I will say that my husband is wonderful and he has told me several times that if either of us feels at anytime that things are not working that we will pull the plug and concentrate on us.

Women can be quite savage to each other when someone tells someone something about their relationship. I'm guessing she felt some kind of deep need to tell yellowroses about her her situation but didn't want to get ripped to shreds for it. She probably only felt safe this way.

There's a reason I refuse to get involved with other women's relationships. Most really have no desire to hear the truth from another woman.

Please understand that, as I have neither read your journals, nor been asked to give an opinion on them, that I wouldn’t presume to judge the situation.

The only point I was making was that, if you genuinely did receive a PM that indicated that the writer considered themselves a "psychic", then you should consider them either a) to be not telling you the truth about believing that about themselves or b) they were a delusional moron.

I've come across that sort frequently, RF.  (You do if you spend a lot of time in places like Bath or Glastonbury.)  They buy into the 'new age' thing so fully that they end up genuinely believing that everyone else will be impressed by their claims to psychic powers (or similar).  A common trait of this type is the belief that what they've got goes quite beyond ordinary 'intelligence' and 'comprehension skills'.

To be fair, although I've spent quite a bit of time around Bath & Glastonbury, I can still spot bullshit when I see it :)

Genuine lol :)

No, you cheeky scamp, I am not.

Although I am now trying to remember where I first heard the line "All horoscopes are rubbish" ... "well you would say that, you're a Sagittarius".

PeonForHer -> RE: Strange pm I received (1/5/2011 5:31:25 PM)

Pfft.  The trouble is, they often can't spot that you've spotted that it's bullshit.  I had one demented fruitcake telling me that he'd cast a spell on me a while back.  He was forever cycling by me and making strange hissing noises.

PyrotheClown -> RE: Strange pm I received (1/5/2011 5:35:18 PM)

I sense...I sense that something might possibly go wrong...unless some one sends me some Nudes

I got sort of semi-stalked by a loon a while back. Similar story. I happened to intervene when he was in the process of hassling women as they walked by, making very unpleasant comments, and when I challenged him, he declared "wizard war" on me (I kid you not).

After being polite, and taking his verbal abuse in the street for about a month, without a word of reply, I took him quietly to one side and told him that, while I was sympathetic to the mentally unwell, I didn't think his shtick fell into that category, and asked him to consider if he had a spell that would protect him from 5 minutes down a nearby dark alley, with me as his host.

He fucked off that very day.

Happy times :)
