I agree. This is surely the bottom (scuse pun) denominator. So, at pains here, not to sound merely flippant, there are enough kinks as there fantasies and nobogy in their right mind would ask for a list of those. There are other fetish sites (naming no names) that have an array of kinks that beggar belief and if the kink isn't there then one of the other hundred monkeys will just come along, as if by chance, and create not only the kink but a group of kinksters who are all into it.
So: by way of being literal here: kink is, for me, a process, that happens in relationship to a person, or oneself (on lonely nights.....wouldn't want to drive the masturbators away here) and a process that involves power in some form or other...usually other.
Edited to add: snorkel fucking.............what else is there to say?

Electric play gets me going, charges me up and scares the bejeebers out of me all at once. All good things! Wands, prods, tens, batteries, zappers, stingers.. yep, give it to me.

See... now this is where I get confuzzled.  I understand this is about kinks and peoples personal kink list to add to make one biggie, I can't see how snokel fucking(as an example seeing as Prins used it) relates to power or control... or other pretty well known kinks like playing with food, sploshing or even enjoying feet.  Whilst I can see why a action or subject that is a kink can be about control or power, it doesn't have to be.  So rapeplay (which this thread is spawning from over on the other forum) whilst it can have elements of power exchange, it doesn't have to.

If someone gets hot from having a wet and messy food fight with another (or others) where is the BDSM element in that?  There is no B, no D and as for the S and M, unless we are talking about freshly boiled potatoes pushed into a cunt there is isn't really anything to that either?

Wouldn't that mean that as Kana stated, that the kink is power.. not the way you get there(rape, queening etcblah)?

The thing is, it's all very logical to me when I'm writing it, but later I think "oh now wait a second ... isn't that a bit obscure?", and it generally is.

Oh the example was kinda rhetorical, it wasn't about the specific kink but more about the BDSM bit.

Just My weird take on this, but I think it comes down to how people interpret the discipline part.  If they see that as power, I can agree.

Fetishes, if they lack the power element, I don't tend to see in quite the same way.   So, the food fight, to use your example, wouldn't necessarily do it for Me.

I think you have struck on an important issue there LadyPact, using the word fetish.

I was with Lucky on this when she was here... there are very few people with bonafide fetishes and I really find the whole term to be overused.  It's almost 'cool' to have a fetish.  Having a 'kink' just doesn't have the same 'huzzah'.  A fetish has to be something to get you off at that moment... and although the word is evolving particulaly in online foraand I just find it overused and under rated.  Kink on the otherhand is a quirk, a something unusual that makes your heart race and your blood rush.  It can make you giddy and feel fabulous but it's not the be and end of all.  Bondage is probably one of the more common fetishes... I know lots of people who can only orgasm when bound, footfetishists are fewer, even though the claim is made... because it's more a kink.

I'm probably being a pedant... wouldn't be the first time.  But when people state they have a fetish for something when it's kink, just makes my skin crawl.  But then that's just my problem/issue.
