I'm probably more in agreement with you in this than you think, sans the skin crawling part. I'm fairly literal on terms and tend to stick to the older and more rigid definition. You definitely nailed it especially when it comes to the difference concerning feet. Being on this side of things, it's very easy to spot whether a person has a kink about them or an actual fetish. I've known a few who, without doubt, it's undeniably a fetish. Not nearly as many who claim it to be. You can tell that, in the moment, it's a kink. Still fun and all, but there really is a difference between the two.

Just My weird take on this, but I think it comes down to how people interpret the discipline part. If they see that as power, I can agree.

Fetishes, if they lack the power element, I don't tend to see in quite the same way. So, the food fight, to use your example, wouldn't necessarily do it for Me.

I agree with this, as, fetihes was priginally discussed by dear Grandad Freud, as an extension of the self, (no power element at all). Like thumb sucking for example, it was an arrestation of pleasure at a certain stage of defelopment, not turned over to another. At some stage later that pleasure can then be objectified onto any object, (like a shoe) but again need not necessarily involve power or any dynamic whatsoever.
Now to make a shopping list of kinks (and I couldn't find a group smaller than snorkel fucking, as there was only one member) doesn't do anything for me. I get pleasure from cooking and gardening and currently knitting but don't attach any element of control or dynamic to those activities. I could I suppose.............

Classically a fetish is an inanimate object you must have in order to be aroused. Usually acquired in the beginning of puberty. I think they're less and less common probably due to sex ed and the power of the internet where kids can learn about sexuality in a more healthy environment than grabbing their female relative's silky panties from the dirty clothes hamper and rubbing into them to get off knowing there will be no signs of ejaculation on the bed sheets for fear of a Baptist or Catholic lecture on the evils of masturbation.

I'm trying not to let it irk me, but whenever I see it (and bear in mind I have absolutely no issue whatsoever with anything I've ever seen you write) it just makes me think "ISSUES! ISSUES OFF THE STARBOARD BOW CAPTAIN! THAR SHE BLOWS!". Almost certainly not true of you, given your output, which as I say seems entirely reasonable, but it just seems "shouty", in the same way IT DOES WHEN PEOPLE POST IN CAPS ALL THE FUCKING TIME ;)

Anyway, not your problem, and not my business, just giving my 2d worth, that's all.
