Read it and weep you bleeding heart liberals. We've turned the corner. Most people are no longer brainwashed by the lamestream media. Brian Williams just looks like an idiot now. Katy Couric always did. Excellent Cartoon here too.

cuckold, old chap, your timing is off.  As a nation, we're in a self-imposed moratorium on the nastiness.  The stuff just like your post.  The good news from your POV is that I don't expect it to last long, but you may wish to tone down the bile for a short bit.

I don't think it was the only factor, but because "most Americans" think something is true, what, it is true?  Think of it from the other side,

2 years ago, most Americans decided that President Obama should lead the country.  You obviously disagree. But hey, most Americans believed it, so it must be true right?

Got any evidence to suggest it was a factor at all? Besides partisan opinions from people who are still trying to score points off the dead?

I will go as far as to say that Loughner may have well heard the tone, but was too far gone to respond to any stimuli, hate-filled r not, with any predictable response.

That said, the nasty tone sure spoiled the mourning period right after the shooting.

And that tone eminated from the left.

Lol, I don't think this guy heard much of anything besides the voices in his head!
To try to say that "heated political rhetoric" set him off is disingenuous at best and rotten politics at worst.
If that were true can we expect his lawyer to use the "Chris Matthews Defense?"
"Don't worry nutty, I'm going to try a "Keith Olberman Plea" and see if the judge buys it."
I seriously doubt that either Sean Hannity or Chris Mathews is going to have *any* affect on a paranoid schitzophrenic.
Now Bill Maher...

Evidence? Certainly not, no one has evidence of anything. That means nobody on the right has any evidence either. It's just a suspicion of mine based on what I've seen and heard thus far. Not that it was the sole motivation, but a mix of that and generic crazy.

Now what I don't understand is when people say "This wasn't politically motivated, he's just crazy" as if being crazy prohibits you from having political convictions.

Nor do I understand how people can try to rebut with "liberal vitriol" by referring to pictures of Bush-era liberals with picket signs at a rally, as if that equates to a guy on the radio spewing hatred to millions of listeners. If Charles Manson can have a whole family killed over some Beatles lyrics, this dude can sure kill some people over what he hears on the radio.

That's not to say that there is NO liberal vitriol. People on both sides can be angry and unstable. Even some politicians on the left can say some of these questionable things.

But the truth is the Right has the market cornered on hate-speech. Everything-ist Michael Savage? "Let's have the democratic primaries end in riots" Rush Limbaugh? Pro-Racial profiling Ann Coulter? "10 percent of all muslims are terrorists" Glen Beck?

No. Just.. no.

So I'm guessing you either slept through the Bush II administration, or were in agreement with the tone of the day and didn't notice how disgusting it was. See anybody here referring to our President as a "monkey" as a matter of habit? Got any movies about his assassination playing down at your local art house? A lot more people insisted then that Bush wasn't the legitimate President of our country, than think Barack Obama was born in Africa now.

We do have evidence, Violet. Clear statements from people who knew him that he wasn't watching the news, or listening to talk radio. That was jazz in his ipod, not the podcast from Rush, or even that heavy metal devil music.

Now if ya'll want to keep pushing this, arguing that the heated political rhetoric was general environment, and contributed to the shaping of his madness, then you might want to reconsider. The social climate of political hate-speech that Jared Loughner grew up in was all the filth the left was spouting about Bush. By the time the right cranked it up, he was only tuned in to the broadcasts from Planet Zoogadeep IV.

If she won't keep pushing it I will.

You keep constantly crying about the way poor Dubya was treated but conveniently forget this atmosphere started with the Moral Majority who demonized anything liberal.

Then we had the never-ending vendettas against the Clintons which accomplished nothing other that wasting our tax dollars.

Don't be a Dupe-nik! I lived in tucson 25 years, was a reporter there, and a UA graduate. How a law enforcement official like Dupe-nik can run his mouth on the causes of that tragedy.. and then say he had no proof.. .well, hey it's what leftists do. Whatever they dream up is reality for them. Good news is the majority of Americans reject that kind of "logic." So remember, DON'T BE A DUPE-NIK!

~FR

The Palin targets had the same effect on people as the Bible has.

I will leave the "more learned" to figure that one out.

The sad thing for me is to see even 20 percent believing this made up hysteria that MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NBC, and the like are peddling. They are sad desperate people who see their little leftist utopia going up in smoke. So like children, they act out.

I'm not positive, but I've been told you need to have certain grammar and spelling skills to be a reporter.

Are you implying that the Beatles were responsible for what Manson did? And now the right wing radio nuts are responsible for this idiot? Give me a fucking break.
