Remember when the Democrats turned Paul Wellstone's funeral into a political rally a few years back?
People were cringing!
They were so bad they even let that retard Patches Kennedy speak!

But the truth is the Right has the market cornered on hate-speech.

So I'm guessing you either slept through the Bush II administration, or were in agreement with the tone of the day and didn't notice how disgusting it was. See anybody here referring to our President as a "monkey" as a matter of habit? Got any movies about his assassination playing down at your local art house? A lot more people insisted then that Bush wasn't the legitimate President of our country, than think Barack Obama was born in Africa now.

We do have evidence, Violet. Clear statements from people who knew him that he wasn't watching the news, or listening to talk radio. That was jazz in his ipod, not the podcast from Rush, or even that heavy metal devil music.

Now if ya'll want to keep pushing this, arguing that the heated political rhetoric was general environment, and contributed to the shaping of his madness, then you might want to reconsider. The social climate of political hate-speech that Jared Loughner grew up in was all the filth the left was spouting about Bush. By the time the right cranked it up, he was only tuned in to the broadcasts from Planet Zoogadeep IV.

So... He was so chock-full of liberal vitriol that he shot a democrat?

I still don't think you fully understand what I'm getting at. I personally think that George Bush got more hate than he deserved. But I don't think it's the same thing as what's going on here. We're not talking about foaming at the mouth shock troops out in public who are mad as hell and not going to take it anymore. We specifically mean people in the public eye and being reckless with that opportunity.

I'm not saying that he definitely did this because of conservative hate speech. It's just that it's possible that it was a contributing factor. There have already been cases where people have been murdered likely after pundits have talked about them. Bill O'Reilly and the whole "Tiller the Baby Killer" thing.

All we are saying is be careful. Stuff like this might set people off, we don't need to legislate anything, just ask the professional outrage merchants to PLEASE tone it down.

Also, the Jazz on his ipod thing? Terribly flimsy argument. I have nothing of a political nature on my mp3 player, and still I have political beliefs. Heck, I don't even have those political books he had.

Lol, I don't think this guy heard much of anything besides the voices in his head!
To try to say that "heated political rhetoric" set him off is disingenuous at best and rotten politics at worst.

To make a blanket statement that partisan words had no bearing is also just as disingenuous.

How does a guy who is mentally ill focus in on the tax and debt and currency issues without hearing it via partisan media?  Where did it derive from? Where else does a mentally ill person who bombed out of college soak that up?

Read it and weep you bleeding heart liberals.

Reject rhetoric as 'cause', absolutely. many people do, and so do I.

I do not reject rhetoric as a contributing factor, and neither does everyone else who you mistakenly believe 'have your back'.

Well, you completely misread me in mentioning what kind of music he liked. I wouldn't argue for a moment that jazz made him kill, any more than I'd buy the arguments that it was subliminal messages from Ozzy that created violence 20 years ago.

What I am saying, Violet, is that if you want to argue that a nasty political climate helped shape him, then we need to look at the environment at the time he was being shaped. He's been out of touch for a while. As for determining something from him attacking the event of a Democrat, what kind of Democrat was she? Markos Moulitsas (the founder of Daily Kos) had just tweeted that Giffords was "dead to him" after she voted against Pelosi continuing as Dem leader.

Brainwashing........

righhhht.

Please realize that anti-propaganda is STILL propaganda. We will begin with that.

Then realize that if it takes any sort of media outlet for someone to form their own opinions and behaviors (ARG I HATEZ U LIBERALS) then that someone needs to fight against their own brainwashing.

Also realize that I am not leftist, rightest, conservative, liberal, centerist, and that shit is not going to matter much longer... before you start driving on me for being some whacko liberal betrayer of america blah blah blah.

You missed out. Unity, Microphone, and an Audience is much more effective than several bullets. As we can plainly see it motivates. If a political figure was not the target of this than it would be another fading Virginia it technical school shooting in which nameless faces are picked off and forgotten, sadly.
