OK, what's your favourite unpleasantly violent hand-to-hand fight in any film?  Give your reasons.  One of mine is John Cusack's fight to the death in Grosse Pointe Blank, in a school hallway, with Mirror in the Bathroom by The English Beat playing in the background.  I love the sudden and completely unexpected start to it.  Two professional killers - couldn't get a better match.

The fight scene after Tony Soprano suspects Ralphie of killing his horse which culminates in Christopher cutting off Ralphie's head. Still creeps me out.

I dont think I would have liked it so much without the music though.
Its so appropriate!

Just in terms of a nice, cheesy, feel good sort of fight, a favorite that comes to mind is the Rocky/Tommy Gunn fight outside the bar in Rocky 5. Aragorn against the orcs, at the end of Fellowship of the Ring was also fun.

Didn't catch Rocky 5, but the Lord of the Rings films were full of great fights.  Aragorn didn't pussyfoot - heh! [;)]

I've heard that that (in the uncut version) was the longest fist fight in any film, ever. It was ludicrous!  All over a guy refusing to wear a pair of sunshades!

Cooooo!  My kind of gal, too.  (Though, personally, I'd have preferred her to get a bit sweatier.  And go a little more for the heaving chest thing.  Well, you know how it is.  [;)])  Wasn't she tiny compared to him?

I'm wondering if my sister could fight like that.  Some six years ago, as a total girl's blouse and easily the weediest of all the females in the family, she took up karate.  A few months ago, she got her black belt, first dan.  We're all very, very proud of her.

Chortle - superb.  [:D]

An old favourite of mine - from Bad Day at Black Rock.  Spencer Tracy does it with one arm to poor old Ernest Borgnine.  I still can't work out if the tripping move at the end is physically possible, though.
