If I am feeling cranky, then I want some pampering. If My boy is being grouchy, I give him some space and have him go work on his car or motorcycles, it takes his mind off of things. And sometimes it is best to just let the other person(s) vent their frustration over traffic, taxes, noisy neighbors and other sundry details of everyday life. Just set a time limit on the venting and do not allow it to take place during times where you both need to be relaxed and quiet, such as: eating a meal, doing homework, calming a crying child or trying to sleep.
