Ok...here's a question i haven't seen asked yet.

How do you, the submissive deal when the Dominant has mood swings?

Coz, let's face it... W/we all have em.

I do what I can to ease his mood.

He straightens me out and refocuses me so that I am calm and happy again.

truesub4u -> RE: Mood Swings and D/s (5/1/2006 11:15:19 PM)

I simply tell him to go deal with them... i'm not there for him to get moody on.... when i get moody... i tell him.. and that's my warning i'm about to become a bitch.... approach with caution... LOL

apb -> RE: Mood Swings and D/s (5/1/2006 11:17:56 PM)

Talk.  Not always easy ... especially when new to the lifestyle and in a new relationship.  But communication is key.

Unfortunately, I tend to be a moody person and also do not hide my feelings well.  My MissTress can always tell when something is bothering me and will always ask me what is going on.  I think the difference between us is that sometimes I take a while to be able to vocalize my feelings because it takes me a while to truly isolate what is bothering me.

I am working on improving my communication skills at the same time as learning the ropes in a 24/7 D/s relationship.  What I find interesting is that even at this early stage in our relationship She is much more aware of my moods and is much more concerned about my thoughts and feelings that any of my previous relationships.

ownedgirlie -> RE: Mood Swings and D/s (5/1/2006 11:19:46 PM)

LOL True...please warn me when you are moody too - you would scare me lol

I should have added, when Master is moody, I can typically sense it, but he rarely takes it out on me.  I sense it by his demeanor but he has self control about it.

And when I am in a mood, I am still expected to behave appropriately.  But if I tell him I'm upset about something, he does straighten me out.

Mouse... i've only talked with Misstress on here and IMs.... and not being in same relationship as you are with her... she does the same thing to me... always knows when something isn't right with me.... I really respect alot of her abilities... and the Woman herself... hope all goes well with you two.... [;)]

Thanks truesub!  I hope we get to meet sometime.  I was supposed to come and pick you up the day of the nailing.

I hope all is well with you!

Same answer to both questions for me: get naked and bend over. ;)

If I am feeling cranky, then I want some pampering.  If My boy is being grouchy,
I give him some space and have him go work on his car or motorcycles, it takes his
mind off of things.  And sometimes it is best to just let the other person(s) vent
their frustration over traffic, taxes, noisy neighbors and other sundry details
of everyday life.  Just set a time limit on the venting and do not allow it to
take place during times where you both need to be relaxed and quiet, such as:
eating a meal, doing homework, calming a crying child or trying to sleep.

genvieve, ty for a good topic, and welcome to the boards.

I'm quite in tune with the moods of my subs.  I know when something is different, even when it's a very minor shift.  I believe that part of the reason is I am a very even person most of the time, I don't have mood swings.  I have a melancholy day when there are big changes in my life, but the rest of the time I'm rather contented and happy in a very laid back kind of way.

My mouse has them from time to time and the only issue that I have with it is her denial.  W/we are working on that.

The only time our girl gets mood swings is that one time a month.... but when it happens... it HAPPENS!! She knows it coming and lets us know, from that point on, she stays in her room and sleeps. The first time it happened with us we were honestly expecting her head to turn a full 360 degrees along with projectile pea soup! We just let her sleep the three days away now... lol

For me... well menopause guarantees mood swings but I know when it's happening and they are really pretty mild (in comparison to what we've witnessed particularly) so for the most part I stay in control of them.

Dustyn -> RE: Mood Swings and D/s (5/2/2006 3:44:57 AM)

Just depends on where the mood swings go... for me, being a manic depressive, they can be downright dangerous...

Better living through modern chemistry...

Mistress forgot to add they warn the adult children to be very quiet if they visit and they stuff bags of  gummy worms under the door.

SpankMuhButt -> RE: Mood Swings and D/s (5/2/2006 4:40:32 AM)

I'm not with my Dom too long, but recently I told him he was a true Gemini, he wasn't really being nasty but distant, and over the past few months i noriced he gets like that every few weeks, After i said that he apologized and explanned it wasnt me that he was just focused on something else. I also told him he didnt owe me an apology, he didnt do anything too me personally but i could tell he wasn't himself. As for me when I am in bitchmode, i dont want to be bothered with anyone...sometimes that includes him but when he catches on he is there first and foremost as a friend to see if he can do anything for me, if he sees im just being a bitch i usually get an earful lol.
sometimes that lecturing is worse then anything

Littlepita -> RE: Mood Swings and D/s (5/2/2006 4:50:45 AM)

I'm just now really learning to read his moods, which is fairly easy come to find out. What I try to do is stay quiet and not add to his mood by being bitchy or whatever. I listen to him when he wants to talk. I let him beat me when he needs to release his aggression. I basically am here for him in anyway he wants or needs.

LL1aintbehavin -> RE: Mood Swings and D/s (5/2/2006 5:00:17 AM)

I find that when my Dom has mood swings, i do everything in my power to try and ease the situation.  Be it a simple thing such as give him a back massage or a leg rub or just try and get Him to talk about it.  So far these methods have proved very successful.
When i am having a mood swing i just want to be left alone to get over it.  That is when He insists on digging and pushing to get to the root of whatever is bothering me to get me to that state as it is a rarity.
Not the way i like it, but its the way it is done in His household.

rapture2778 -> RE: Mood Swings and D/s (5/2/2006 5:11:49 AM)

sometimes you can't help but to be in a bad mood....PMS, life, stress, whatever...and we both realize that we are human and that these things will happen...communication is key, and knowing when to step up or when to give some "space" is important to realize as well...

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Mood Swings and D/s (5/2/2006 6:10:38 AM)

If it's a good day- the one who is stable comforts and assists the person having the moods.

If it's a bad day- we grouse and bitch and act all manner of irrational.  Followed by profuse apologies and discussion on the part of the moody person (usually me).

fullofgrace -> RE: Mood Swings and D/s (5/2/2006 6:21:58 AM)

we both just do the best we can. we either try to stay out of each others' way or just listen to one another rant/ramble/rave and recognize what's going on. if either of us do or say something hurtful, we apologize to one another. it's harder for Him, i think, because i'm extremely moody - clinically depressed, possibly manic depressive, ptsd, etc. ad nauseam. He mostly just gets grumbly over His job and such. but He is good at reading me - if not knowing how to handle it sometimes, He at least can recognize when something's going on.
